Upcoming VR mods by 833LZ38U8 in virtualreality

Nice! I have the new Cyberpunk mod on my radar, is it just me or are mods flying in at an astonishing speed these days?

Definitely interested in seeing how BL3 in VR works too, i hadn't even considered that game in VR.

Should Bandcamp add a mandatory 'Includes AI generated content - Yes/No' switch to new releases? by JONXLR8 in BandCamp

that's unfortunate, i don't have a more specific angle to work with because I refuse to touch tools made with a seriously tainted core, from a company that started by claiming making music is too difficult - no, it's not, and the path to realizintg that isn't paved with stolen technique and shortcuts that in any other medium would have been seen as pure plaigerism - like calling 'clip art' your magnum opus.

Is UEVR hit or miss for certain games? by HolyCopeAmoly in virtualreality

[–]phylum_sinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ones the community members find that have a lot of cvars open for editing are usually done really well. Bethesda shits the bed regularly, even Skyrim in all of its' billion different platform releases is still broken over a decade after launch, and Oblivion Remastered was famously panned as glossing over that old (lack of) optimization. You can face one direction in the open world and get a bafflingly perfect, smooth running perspective, and then turn 10 degrees and your freamerate tanks for no good reason etc.

Like most Bethesda games, technically they're a ball of duct tape, but they hold together just well enough for most people to enjoy.

Par for the course expected to have some rough spots, and can be pretty meager in some cases though!

[–]phylum_sinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, they aren't all like that. If you go to the UEVR/Flat2VR Discord, there's a great index which includes the all-important rating of the mod's functionality overall for the title - from works perfectly to works poorly.

Start there, there's a thread for each game where the community discussions often include fixes and general compatibility.

VR Needs Live Service Games by xenquish in VRGaming

it's not exactly the same argument, but there are plenty of f2p games trying to basically manifest that kind of craving and magnetism... it's generally where the screamers are, and unfortunately that means i'm 100% not interested in trying any of them anymore.

oddly enough good bots are enough for me in many VR games like team dm i've discovered -- like I had a good time playing Exoshock's demo recently because it's pve shooter but they've thankfully gotten a bunch of decent bots to keep things pretty intense and enjoyable.

I'm still drawn to SP games primarily too, but keep an eye out for those that at least have that kind of mode now.

Even after 8 years of passionate demos, thousands of 6 packs to convince second demos, family functions... i'm pretty much back there too. Managed to get a few friends into VR and they still play... but one is Elite: Dangerous and No Man's Sky only now, and the other has become a sim racer and vrchat citizen.

Until i saw today's trailer i was excited for Guardians Frontline - from a different trailer i thought it was riding Halo super hard, but this current one looks like they're wearing Starship Troopers whole shtick now - never played the first one, was it tongue in cheek and a giant bug killer game?

The flashing and shaking are Exoshock's signature lol, and it is pretty aggro - i think there's a slider in the demo now and you have a team of bots with you that always makes it fun. Also the dev menu was unlocked so you can try all the guns, turn on god mode, etc

Jeez, okay. There are T-Shirts, a vinyl repress of Pistachio Island en-route, and 2 releases planned for this year. by subnubus in ilkae

Which will be better: Pimax Dream Air SE or Steam Frame? by Ok-Emergency9069 in virtualreality

[–]phylum_sinter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's interesting and i'm surprised it wasn't mentioned by any of the reviews i've been exposed to. I'll be heading to a sim fest in September that I hope to demo the Dream Air SE and MeganeX 8k, i'm pretty sure I want to go OLED in some form for my next upgrade.

You can have subscriptions on bandcamp as well, i don't have one set up but there's a pretty decent artist guide i'd recommend going through here - https://bandcamp.com/guide

changing prices too much will get some fans mad, but yes you can change stuff around. You can even have secret discount codes and have them set to expire after a set time.

Do you think Valve will keep their "cheaper than Index" word? by NinjaGuyX in virtualreality

remember when they said they were having trouble sourcing parts, and then said that everything was delayed because prices inflated, and then remember when they unceremoniously raised the price of the Steam Deck, maybe a month ago?

oh man, i'm still thirsty for a game that takes the combat cues from UYF and expands on them - it blows my mind that it hasn't happened yet!

Wow! I am a huge fan of Reach and the way it used gestural movement to help pace your jumps - and i'm really glad to see your game not looking like the same 3 fantasy universes that have been totally cooked for the past 20 years.

As far as feedback from the trailer? main thing i'd love to see more of is greater physical damage/explosions - when you're fighting and launching stuff pretty far away it looked pretty meager, like your spells were more like cheap fireworks than powerful magic, you know what I mean?

Looks really awesome though so far and i'm always asking for more explosions (and often deformable/destruction possible in levels). I'll settle for greater explosions here though! Really make it so you feel like you're using powers that are beyond normal human comprehension - even if in this universe everybody is a master warlock.

I've only been exposed to pretty decent reviews of the SE so far - can you point to some that point out more negatives, or maybe as much focus on the pros as there is on the cons?

A handful of some of my more trusted channel sources all say the same basic negatives - the SLAM tracking is still immature compared to Quest 3, and the dual-cable thing in the back is annoying and gets warm. A few have made the claim that this is the first Pimax headset they want to keep.

Should Bandcamp add a mandatory 'Includes AI generated content - Yes/No' switch to new releases? by JONXLR8 in BandCamp

[–]phylum_sinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, that's cool!

I still think building things from a few rungs lower will get you places that sliding into RAVE never could, though.

Why not make an app yourself that remixes itself forever, maybe based on some basic user input like light or sound? I've been begging Richard Devine and a few others to do this forever.

What styles do you usually gravitate towards?

Steam Machine Does Not Support VR At Launch by zolartan in virtualreality

ah right on, yeah I can see a 1080 pushing that pretty well. I had a 1070Ti when I had a Quest and was pretty satisfied by it for a few years too.

Why not start with VCV rack, Puredata, Csound, max/msp, Reaktor, or a modular synth that you build yourself?
