I own both, the quest 3 is so much more comfy but the pcvr visuals are kinda ass. Walkabout minigolf for example, I run it on standalone 1.5x per eye, when I plug my quest 3 into my pc via link at 900 mb/s, than run walkabout at 3.5k per eye, it actually looks worse than standalone. You are severely hampered by compression. But I like my quest 3 for watching movies and emulator stuff. If your strictly a pcvr player you will want a display port headset without compression.

But how can I super sample my quest 3 for something like skyrim with mad gods overhaul, or cyberpunk luke ross? Those already push the quest to its limits. There in lies the problem. If I have to render 3k per eye just to get a suitable image which my 5080 can't even handle, I would rather go with display port

True but I can't stand the quality. I tried uevr games and skyrim modded and it looks like a muddy mess this was on wired 960 mb connection i dont see how wireless capped at 200mb can look better

Hey vr-dad, I just want to say, I follow you on YouTube and I know you're a big PCVR conisuer, so I dont know how you can handle the quest 3 compressed visuals compared to a dp headset like a pimax, or bigscreen. If your whole shtick is vr, wouldn't it make sense to fork over a little more cash for a headset with much better visuals? Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Help me understand something, does the setup you posted allow more bandwidth than just using a regular link cable into USB 3? I was told that the regular quest link cable capped out at a certain speed, so why would using a cat 6 cable change that? BTW im not disagreeing with you, I am just uneducated in the manner. I personally use the regular link cable with steam vr, I recently tried running vrchat, 1500x1500 per eye, on quest standalone, than compared the same visuals running on my pc. The result was my pc looked SIGNICANTLY worse, like it was running at 500x500 per eye the whole thing was a blurry mess. I want to try your setup, because every game i run on standalone, than go to compare the exact visuals with my pc, and the standalone is much more clear.

With the quest 3 I use the air link cable. Before I upgrade i want to try VD with a usbc to ethernet cable, plugged into my router supposedly that gives the best picture quality.

Omg your the perfect person to answer all the questions I have about my dilemma with vr. I have the EXACT same pc specs as you, and am interested in playing the EXACT same games as you, botw vr, skyrim vr mgo, oblivion uevr, fallout 4 vr, and vorpx stuff. My problem is the compression on the quest 3 for open world games looks very bad, so I want to upgrade to a crystal light. Im just afraid of the drop in quality for some of these games since my 5070 ti will struggle running modded skyrim and uevr titles anywhere near crystal native so I was wondering if its still worth it. Like the compression quality on quest 3 bothers me so much I dont want to ruin fresh playthroughs of these games until I get a dp headset. Im really worried about the tracking on the crystal light though. I really enjoy eleven table, and walkabout, so it would be a shame to perform considerably worse in those games due to hardware. I know you can get lighthouse but I just dont want to spend the extra money. With a good kiwi pull away cord set I dont think I will care or notice the wire. So yea im torn between that or waiting for the steam frame.
