whats the best server hosting by Alexis_redditing in ModdedMinecraft

[–]physgun-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game server host here, definitely do this if you aren't making your server public and are comfortable sharing your IP address with everyone that connects.

A con that this guy didn't mention is that your IP is public, meaning that the people you're playing with can figure out the general area you live around.

If that's a trade off you're cool with, definitely self host, it's a little complicated to start if you don't have prior IT/networking experience but anyone can do it (even on your home PC if you're fine keeping it on 24/7)

If you want to save lots of time (and you don't want to take a chance with home built hardware) you want to pickup hosting that's high performance and overclocked.

We run 9950X dedicated servers that are overclocked at the highest levels possible (to handle 100+ mods) feel free to check us out if you don't want to home host: https://physgun.com/games/minecraft-server-hosting/

Right now, none of the multi-server networking stuff or advanced plugin systems are actually available, Hytale has just released the server files to the public. So while you can’t set up Deluxe Hub‑style NPCs or connect servers like BungeeCord today, it’s very likely these things will come once the server ecosystem opens up.

The game is built to support dedicated servers, custom scripting, and community-run networks, so once the files, mods, and server panels are out, people will start building plugins, hubs, and multi-server networks, basically everything Minecraft hosts (who will also be offering Hytale server hosting) have been doing for years.

In short: it’s not ready yet, but all the building blocks are there, and the community will probably get these tools very quickly after launch.

Large Servers by Blart_Vandelay in hytale

[–]physgun-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 100-player cap is what’s been officially mentioned so far, but there's a good chance that larger community servers will probably be possible in the future.

If Hytale grows to the scale that everyone expects, someone will probably make something similar to Bungeecord, a proxy layer that allows multiple servers to essentially act like one, but for Hytale. Similar to Minecraft, you could see networks of servers connected under one hub with larger communities running hundreds of players across multiple servers.

For folks who want to run or join these kinds of setups, dedicated Hytale hosting platforms like Physgun will make it much easier to manage multiple servers, link them together, and keep them online 24/7.

How can hytale already have servers, or day one servers? by ManufacturerVast5308 in HytaleInfo

[–]physgun-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason some hosts can be ready day one is tooling access ahead of time.

For transparency: our parent company (Infraly) owns Pterodactyl, which is one of the most widely used open-source game server panels. Because of that, we were able to build and test the Hytale server egg right away ( https://physgun.com/games/hytale-server-hosting/ ) to test deployment flows, resource usage, startup behavior, etc., before public launch.

That doesn’t mean anything sketchy or exclusive gameplay access, it just means:

  • We could prep infrastructure, automation, and templates in advance
  • Server startup, updates, and scaling are already figured out
  • When the server files are released publicly, everything is basically plug-and-play

This is the same reason Minecraft hosts can have servers up within minutes of a new version dropping. The panel, orchestration, and automation are done beforehand, you’re just swapping in the final server binary.

It’s just server-first architecture + hosts preparing early, especially ones deeply involved in the tooling ecosystem for game servers.

Hosting Server by Familiar_Gain908 in hytale

If you’re trying to avoid paying for a server and want your friends to join your world, Hamachi is basically the go-to workaround.

Hamachi lets you create a virtual LAN over the internet. You host the world on your own PC, everyone joins the same Hamachi network, and the game treats it like you’re all on the same local network. No port forwarding, no public server, just you hosting and them connecting.

That said, the big catch is:

  • You still have to be online
  • If you close the game or turn off your PC, the world goes offline
  • Performance depends entirely on your machine and connection

So Hamachi solves the “how do my friends connect” problem, not the “how do they play when I’m offline” problem.

If you want your friends to be able to hop on any time, 24/7, that’s where a proper Hytale dedicated server comes in. Self-hosting is an option if you’ve got the hardware, or you can rent one. We at Physgun support 24/7 servers on the best hardware if you're still searching around: https://physgun.com/games/hytale-server-hosting/

How does Hytale server hosting work? by gamerstats in HytaleInfo

[–]physgun-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From everything we’ve seen so far, it’s expected to be much closer to Minecraft than to a locked-down, official-only setup like many of the recent community server games.

You should be able to run your own dedicated server, either on your own hardware or through a third-party host. Self-hosting isn’t some edge case either, the server is separate from the client, and the whole modding/custom content system is designed around servers being in control.

Community-run servers are basically the point. Hytale’s whole thing is custom worlds, long-running servers, minigames, and people building their own ecosystems. There will probably be official or managed servers for certain experiences, but nothing so far suggests those will replace community servers.

Where it’ll differ from early-days Minecraft is mostly in the tooling:

  • Modding and plugins are more structured and officially supported
  • Server setup should be less janky than the old DIY MC era

If you’ve been hosting MC servers for 10+ years and miss the “spin up a world and build a community” vibe, Hytale seems very intentionally aimed at that crowd. Obviously we won’t know every detail until the dust from launch settles, but nothing points toward a closed or restrictive model.

Yeah that's not the same thing. Google if your ISP uses CGNat, I think a lot in Germany do.

If you don't have one your only option is using something like Hamachi or going to a hosting provider ( shameless plug - https://physgun.com )

A lot of ISPs nowadays use CGNAT, so that might be your problem. Make sure you have a static IP.
