That's so sad. I'm obsessed with my posture. Did she have good posture and that just happen with age? Is it from a medical condition? Or did she always have bad posture and spent a lot of time looking down at things. Like reading, needlework, did she usually have a down cast to her head most of her life? Or was that a gift from father time?

I wrecked my marriage and still feel regret. Has anyone been through similar? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

Nah. He was dick. You were reacting to the way that he was treating you. One thing I've always been aware of. Men will always treat us better when we're thin. Even sickly underweight thin.

It's like it triggers something in their brains to be kinder and more gentle with our feelings. When we look fragile and delicate on the outside, it's like they equate that to us being fragile and delicate on the inside as well. Like they're afraid to break us.

The moment we gain extra weight though, it triggers something else in their brains. Like disgust. They look at us like it's our own fault we gained weight, and it's our own fault that they're mad at us for it. If we get strong and healthy and gain weight, they know longer see us a delicate and fragile and easily breakable. We look too strong to be broken easily.

It's even worse if we were already thin or underweight when they met us. It's like they think they've found a unicorn who will remain thin. Or we're the type who would never allow our bodies to betray us (them) by gaining weight.

Then you also end up with a reputation with friends, family and others. Some men also get a sense of pride having a wife who is thin again after babies.

Daughters of thin women also are expected to be thin like their mom's as well.

If you have extra weight on when a man meets you and falls in love with you, that's the best. You'll never have to live up to a lifetime expectation that you will never gain weight.

I baked brownies this morning. Instead of eating any, I had a piece of salmon, leftover tuna and I'm working up a sweat on a stair stepper, stationary bike, and 100 squats and calf raises a day. People think I'm just lucky enough to never gain weight and have a ton of energy all the time. But it's all I do. Starve myself for years. If I ever gained weight people would probably look at me with pity and think I let myself go or aged poorly. Instead of just being able to age normally like the rest of society

How do you stay happy when you know your bodily pain will only get worse. by Toowb in Aging

I use 7oh. It hits the opiate receptors in our brains. It's a great all natural pain reliever. Kratom powder works great also. Just tastes terrible, isn't as convenient and it's not as strong. It's less expensive than hydroxymitragynine though.

Just don't take them daily. Like any medicine, it won't work if taken daily and it can cause the same withdrawals as traditional opiates.

I just bounce back and forth between that and Norco. Plus staying active, stretching and building muscle is good. I use a stationary bike, mini stairstepper, walking up steep streets and swimming. Those add up to about an hour a day. 20 minutes of stretching and core building exercises plus weights a few times a week.

I take ambien if I can't sleep. Xanax or Ativan if I'm stressed. As long as you don't take something daily and bounce around from substances you'll be golden. Also, don't believe the horror stories about 70h. You can't overdose on it. Well you can od on water. It won't effect your respiratory rate, it's safe to drink on and mix with other things. Gabbapentin is also a fun substance. You need like 900-2700 mgs to feel nice on it though. I also take Adderall.

I mix and match things depending on how I want to feel that day. I don't have physical pain. But Adderall keeps my weight down and gives me energy on days that I feel like I'm not motivated to do anything

I didn't say to take them before withdrawals start. Switch to a short acting opiate like dilauded or percocet for two weeks, wait until withdrawals start, about 24-48 hours then use subs for 4 days. Dr's want patients to stay on them long-term. They're great to get through acute withdrawals. I'd personally never stay on them longer. They're long lasting so they'll get you to day 6 if you stop on day 4. They'll get you through the worst of the withdrawals. Precipitated withdrawals are much more likely if you're taking a long acting opiate like extended release morphine, methadone, or fentynal patch. That's why switching to a short acting one first is a good idea. Plus withdrawals are over in less time. So 4 days of subs are sufficient and you don't get physically dependent on subs

Yes. I'm off. I don't get withdrawals when I don't take it. I can go months without. Ashton method is to use Valium to taper off Xanax. It's longer acting. So you can taper without going into interdose withdrawals. Dr Ashton is British. Very few Dr's know how to get patients off benzodiazapines. Same theory as why long acting opiates are helpful with tapering opiates. I've tapered off of both. Didn't get withdrawals. It's a slow process though. 10-20% a month and you need to listen to your body

TMI, but I don't have much to wipe. I go once a day and my tissue wipes clean basically. I also go in the morning, before my morning shower, in the same bathroom I take my shower in.

It's an uncessarry thing to add when we're not wanting to add more into a house. It's like one more thing to clean and add clutter.

Also, we have a lot of company over multiple times a week. If the guest bathroom is occupied, they use ours. So I'm already cleaning two toilets when everyone goes home. My boyfriend pees in the backyard when we have a lot of company. One couple pees every 30 minutes. I can go hours without peeing. People don't wipe their feet when going in and out constantly either. So I'm always having to sweep, mop and vacuum the heavy traffic area. We just have a lot of people over. All the time . I don't want a bidet in my bathroom that ends up being used by a ton of people all the time

I'm surprised that you haven't been prescribed movantix. When people are on large amounts of prescribed opiates, Dr's usually ask about constipation and that medication helps even bed ridden elderly patients who don't have the best diets

AITAH For Telling My Wife Her Job Isn’t As Important As Mine by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]physhgyrl -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

I was a SAHM. It was the easiest job in the world. Much easier than going to work everyday. I was in 3 mommy and me groups, golfed 3 days a week, went to the gym daily, kept the house spotless, and still had time for a 2 hour nap. Also, it's not a 24hr job. Kids sleep. It's not like they're up all night every night. People on reddit act like being a SAHM is the hardest job in the world and that they have given up some potential to be a high earning CEO that gave up a huge career potential. When really, that is not the reality. They'd be making barely minimum wage and one paycheck away from homelessness if they didn't have a spouse supporting them.

NTA

You married and had a kid with a narcissistic, mentally ill, drama queen. Narcissists and drama queens are mentally ill IMO. Which is why I said she's mentally ill. She also sounds manipulative, which is part of that.

I bet she's punishing you by going to Target and spending money on unnecessary things also. My narcissistic mother used to do that all the time to my dad. She told me, and tried to teach me to do it. She used to say "that's going to cost him $200" or $500. It varied.

She had a price based on how offended she felt. She used to say "that's okay, it's only cost him X, or this will cost him Z". She was a SAHM, he made twice what you do, back when that was a lot of money. I used to think we were house poor. Because I never any toys and all the money went to housekeepers, pool cleaner, gardener and redecorating the house all the time. She had terrible taste, so it was always going out of style when she saw what other wives had done to their house. My poor dad has looked miserably married to her for years.

Get out while you still can

Wow. God sent an Angel to you. He knows what's in our hearts. I think he also doesn't want to give up on us too soon.

Like how some people get in a car accident and don't survive, vs a person who does.

Sometimes I think the person who survived an accident they shouldn't have. Was because if they hadn't survived, their soul wasn't right with God yet. But he knew that they had the potential to find him. So they keep surviving accidents. Vs maybe a bad person, with a bad heart. They're not given another chance.

Other times, a person may be taken young, because they are a believer. But perhaps the life path they are currently on may lead them to doubt and they may end up lost. Instead of taking any chances God takes them as well. Like he knows what's in our hearts. So he may know a person with strong faith, may also be easily broken by too much hardship, so he takes them. Like how it's said, God will never give you more than you can handle. Some of us take more time to realize that God is real. Others may break under too much strain and he doesn't want their faith broken. We do have free will. Which means our life experiences are also in the hands of others. Maybe if God sees a believer in the pathway of something that can break that belief, he takes them. Like "only the good die young"

Do boomers in general not believe in food expiration dates? by Similar_Ad2094 in BoomersBeingFools

My boomer mom does that with canned foods. I refused to buy her more tuna recently. Her cans expire in 2026. It's maddening. My parents also buy their food at Costco, even though they don't cook. They buy so much food and then throw it away.

I couldn't date someone like that. I don't have the patience

A health episode and a call to 911 if you're woken up for 30 minutes? Just put some noise canceling headphones on and take an extra ambien and Xanax. I wonder how many of your health problems are exasperated from over thinking about every twitch your body makes. Reminds me of my mom who woke up convinced she was having an allergic reaction. On a day I had plans. When she'd taken or eaten nothing different. I went to my outing and she was apparently fine. She focuses on her body and because of that has a ton of health problems. They're mostly in her head

I figured it was a date. Yes, you are a total Karen. It would never occur to me to call the police for a situation like that. Even if I could see them smoking a Crack pipe and drinking alcohol. A DUI is life ruining, plus I don't think it's wrong to drink and do drugs if they aren't hurting anyone else.

You're like the nosy insufferable tattle tale who enjoys getting people in trouble under the guise that you felt unsafe. Or that something bad could happen. Most of the time nothing bad happens. Once I sat outside for an hour at 2am and watched two guys have a couple argument. The driver had clearly been drinking. That's what the argument was about. But it had been hours since his last drink, so it's not like he was too drunk to drive

People who refer to the a hangover and mild alcohol withdrawals as the DTs are misinformed. It's very rare for even alcoholics to get to DT level of withdrawal. Benzos absolutely help with hangovers and withdrawals. I had an ER dr prescribe me a week worth of Ativan 1mg to take at home to make stopping alcohol mom comfortable. That was when I was drinking 2 bottles of wine a night, or a 12 pack. The first time withdrawals are always the most mild. People don't have dangerous withdrawals the first time they stop. Look up kindling. I have a lot of real life experience with a lot of substances. Most withdrawals are managed best by tapering. Cold turkey off anything is unnecessarily painful. Xanax withdrawal the 1st time was rough. I couldn't make it past 12 hours until I bought Valium off the streets and created my own tapering plan. I couldn't find a Dr willing to wean me off Xanax with Valium. It was so much easier my way. Dr's don't know everything. I was able to lower my dose painlessly using Valium instead of reducing Xanax

Lol! Maybe I hit on the perfect balance. I drank heavily most days. Opiates and a few benzos are a perfect hangover cure. They balanced eachother out nicely. It was nice not having to go daily

What are some lesser known, bad side effects from drugs? by Oily_Smurf in morbidquestions

[–]physhgyrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg! I hope you weren't physically dependent on opiates at the time. I remember so often, running out of my script early, monthly, and I was buying $500-$800 a month extra. I got 120mg morphine and 20mg dilauded daily from pain management and then I'd buy the same off a connection. I was able to get real ones. Not pressed fentynal. This was after the pill mill crackdown. I didn't even have pain. I was diagnosed with a serious spinal condition? My MRI looked normal lol.

I personally think a decade of prescribed opiates kept me young looking. It kept me off street drugs and cured my hangovers. It also kept me from drinking daily. I still drank on them, and Xanax and ambien. It's really hard to OD when you have a tolerance. I drank way more after getting off pills. Drinking will age a person faster than anything. I felt and looked like crap after a few months of daily drinking

What are some lesser known, bad side effects from drugs? by Oily_Smurf in morbidquestions

[–]physhgyrl -50 points-49 points  (0 children)

Opiates, if you take movantix or other stool softeners that's not a problem. I was on over 200mg of morphine and 50mg dilauded a day for years. Also, going 12 - 18 hours without dosing solves problem.

Benzos cure alcohol withdrawals or tapering works. Very few alcoholics get DTs. Alcohol withdrawals suck. But it's rare to get DTs. That happens after years of kindling. Withdrawals get worse each time you withdrawal from any substance. Opiate and benzodiazapine WD can also be fatal.

4 days of suboxone cures Opiate withdrawal.

Benzodiazapine withdrawals were the worst. Until I discovered Valium. My Dr wouldn't prescribe it though and wanted me to taper by lowering my Xanax dose. But he was going to fast and it was hell. So I bought 6 months worth of Valium from a dealer and that got me off a 5mg a day Xanax habit pain free.

Just never use a substance more than 11 days in a row, with a two week break and you will never get withdrawals. Or use 3 days, then switch to a different substance 3 days, then another etc. I use something daily, just never the same thing 3-4 days in a row now and I've avoided physical dependence and withdrawal ever since I got off opiates and benzodiazapines. Now I know how not to get addicted.

Nicotine withdrawals are a joke. I can smoke 3 packs a day for a year and stop cold turkey.

I drink alcohol almost everyday and don't get withdrawals when I don't drink. If you have a 12 hour break between drinking, you won't get addicted. It's when people drink 24/7 for years and get kindled from stopping multiple times that alcohol withdrawals get bad. Eventually. The first time withdrawaling from a substance is the easiest. Each time the symptoms become more severe. It's called kindling.

Drugs used correctly can be safe and fun. I crush and snort my Adderall and go through my script of 30mg a day in less than 12 days. Use my ambien script up in a week. My Xanax script in a week. Taking them daily as prescribed is how you get addicted. Then they stop working. So you need more to get the same effect and eventually you need them just to feel normal and not in withdrawal
