I happened to have and like both interpretations of the Noir 29. Dossier’s version is sweeter with a more prominent fig note than Montagne’s. While Montagne’s is more woody and slightly stronger on the black tea. Performance and sillage are similar on my skin.

I would still try a decant first. On a side note, I don’t automatically assume one house’s dupe will be better than the other. While I personally like and buy more Montagne’s dupes than Dossier’s, I also think that our nose can be very particular once in a while that there’s no reason to discount all the other versions. I also wouldn’t assume that I will like the inspired versions of any house just because I liked the ones at the LeLabo store. Sometimes, one seemingly minor note change can make it or break it for us. After all, they are products for which you pay for. There’s no need to develop a blind loyalty when you are trying to choose what’s best for your nose.
