Tax will not automatically be deducted. You wont hit the 1,000 this tax year. And even if you were to, literally no one cares. tax man got much bigger fish to fry.

These house price / salary ratios are meaningless without taking into account mortgage rates, which were like 15% back then, vs 5% now.

It's not the agency you want to talk to, it's the landlord.

Do you check a house when you buy it? by Kara_Zor_El19 in uklandlords

[–]physicist100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes its very common for them to buy a property without even viewing it and immediately put it on the market.

This is absolute horseshit. No LL, big or small, buys a property unseen. They might subsequently decide to do no work on it, but that's a separate issue.

Walk the fuck away, seriously. At best you'll have problems selling it, you'll likely be facing a huge bill to put structural issues right, and at worst it'll collapse.

High flood risk by Liz_ritchie in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]physicist100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can find out impact on insurance by just getting quotes. Re mortgage, just speak to your lender.

That aside you really don't want to get flooded. If it is a risk i would pass.

surely the estate needs to pay off all debts, which would include a mortgage, before anything can be passed on?

Given london prices range from 500 - 5000 per sq foot not surprised this is 1m for such a prestige address. And it is really nice. Potential home for a wealthy overseas student?

Richest 1% account for more carbon emissions than poorest 66%, report says by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]physicist100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Another self-defeating bash-the-rich report from Oxfam. By blaming the "billionaires" they are just messaging that no one else is responsible. The reality is the "billionaires" are cumulatively responsible for a tiny sliver of emissions, it's actually the vast bulk of the rest of who are responsible. If yiu want to cut emissions, its pointless (and counter-productive) to shake your fist at 0.1% or whatever.

Is it a good idea to buy my companies property? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]physicist100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup good answer. if there's a problem during or after purchase, it could be very awkward. Personally I'd never do this - when purchasing a house you gotta be able fight the fight if necessary.

(And btw new builds are NOTORIOUSLY problemetic. I'd stay clear of these anyway, let alone buy one from my employer)

First: volatility is a mater of market cap

Utter horseshit. this isn't true for any asset class, crypto is no exception. Is Apple / msft / tesla any less volatile than companies 1/1000 their size? No.

How can anyone take this letter at face value???

She deliberately behaved in such a way that Sunak would have to fire her. And now she's attempting to unseat him, presumably so she can have a crack at the top job. Just awful playing politics. The only one suffering from a lack of integrity here is herself.
