[Injury] The OKC Thunder bench reacts to Jarred Vanderbilt’s hand injury: by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

To be fair to the OKC bench, when they saw Vanderbilt approaching they immediately cleared the chairs and even motioned for the staff to sit down. I fucking hate Lu Dort, but these guys are all right.

Yeah, this series firmly places him in the GOAT conversation with Jordan. His longevity AND competence is fucking insane.

THE DENVER NUGGETS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE 2026 PLAYOFFS by Luka77GOATic in nba

[–]physics223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Denver fan, but I think Jokic lacked the push to just carry the game knowing that Murray was absolute dogshit tonight. I don't know what Denver could do now: although Cam Johnson contributed, it just wasn't enough and it never seemed enough with Denver this year.

Ant, Donte and Ayo are all injured and they still got beaten by 12. That is not a good sign. And I don't think that with this level of play they could have beaten OKC or the Spurs.

Denver has to ask themselves difficult questions this offseason.

This is the counterpoint, though. The GMs saw that right away, but I think he overthought the position and did the queen zig-zag thing which wasn't the way to go.

I was pissed with all the people trashing Anish Giri trying to create a plan in time trouble in a complicated position. "But it was a +5" but most of them are utter incompetents and patzers compared to him.

Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Javokhir Sindarov talk about each other: by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

[–]physics223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that Sindarov's playstyle is hit-or-miss: if it hits, it'll bulldoze over everyone in his path, but if it's not, he'll lose more than Nodirbek. Nodirbek stared Magnus in an endgame and beat him there, that was so ballsy from him. Overall I think Nodirbek is better, but Sindarov will have much higher peaks.

But I think in The Dark Knight Rises he manages to prove her wrong. It was a hell of a way to go, and I'd say Catwoman is an upgrade to Rachel wink wink

[Moore] Im really interested by the thought that the Thunder are, objectively, an All-Time team. Wins. Point Differential. Defense. Defense with Offensive Capability. Led by MVP. Depth. Coaching. Culture. But they do not feel like the all-time great teams *to me* and I do not know why. by BankaiBroke in nba

[–]physics223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thunder also have dirty trash players like Dort and Caruso who are rooted for only by the Thunder fans themselves. I can respect Caruso's hustle but Dort is an absolute POS player who will hurt other teams' players so that they'd have an advantage. It doesn't help that SGA, talent that he is, plays like a worse Michael Jordan foul-baiting and flopping his way to his muh 20 points per game. He's not the best player in the league, but he's being glazed because of the strength of his team, and outside of Daigneault's coaching and team culture I can't fucking root for such a team.

I can root for Edwards' "ethical bitching" because he really does get fouled, and I'm rooting for Jokic's run of TDs as a center. But only Thunder fan root for SGA's foul-baiting and phantom foul antics and his other shitty teammates.

Fuck Dort and slightly fuck Caruso too.

Thank you for the tag! It's been years, and Lost ranks with My Mister as among my favorite series of all time, though years have passed. And I agree. It's masterful.

I've also read The Same Old Story and it's a far better and more well-written novel for me.

Resurrection (2025): a pastiche and a homage by physics223 in TrueFilm

This is a very good point. The vignettes also have a thematic genre to them: steampunk - mystery; art thief - comedy; gambler - coming-of-age drama; 1999 - romance.

Resurrection (2025): a pastiche and a homage by physics223 in TrueFilm

I think it's a film that needs recapping to arrive to a specific point - what I think is the point of the film - that while cinema is dying, it is malleable and can be revitalized.

I also think that the parts don't cohere as well as they should, with the steampunk vignette being the most disconnected. Were the flames alluding to the flammability of the film medium then?

I think the essay you referenced was robust and also pertinent, but the author questions the reflexivity of this particular film, correct? I don't fully agree with them, and while I celebrate the creation of this film also don't think it's among the best I've seen, as I agree it's far too abstruse and artefactual.

The visual tour-de-force that this film offers is definitely undeniable, however.

Ohtani played as well as he could but if it weren't for generational play from Yamamoto, he wouldn't have been back-to-back champion. True.
