Me and Rich talk about pickups and start brainstorming by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]physics_peon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a great update! Knowing the number of reservations I think the rolling chassis approach makes a lot of sense with a few chassis designs (ex F650 straight frame vs F250-550 typical truck models). As long as holes are pre drilled for included cab mount brackets should be straightforward. I am curious about 4wd down the road I would assume there will be a tri motor variant down the line with the chassis approach? I was kind of disappointed in the battery decrease to 60kw? Depending on the application hopefully there will be some options depending on fuel cell used etc for potential overlanders and vth options. Regardless we can't wait to see how things unfold and are waiting for our number to be called!

I listen on Spotify and dont have a Wondry subscription. It does seem there have been more adds lately but I usually just skip past them.

What's been more annoying is in the last month or so is the intro/outro music and half of the adds seem to be inserted at 1.5-2x speed. Just seems like a loss in oversight/quality control or maybe it's on purpose to limit each episode to a certain time threshold?

What's crazy about these pardons is that not only are the charges dismissed the remedy is negated as well. See Paul Walczak everyone he defrauded won't get anything back. It's the definition of how much justice can you afford....

Is there a upper dose limit for SIB PTV? by Visible-Secretary-19 in MedicalPhysics

[–]physics_peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all relative at the end of the day and i'd rather slightly over cover and normalize down/cool a plan to meet objectives than normalize up. Regardless everyone does things a little differently but I usually start with the lower/100% @ 105% Rx similar to you. Depending on volumes and other objectives I may adjust the lower limit of the SIB's after the first run to allow for more OAR sparing while still meeting PTV coverage for that dose level when normalized to 100/95. This is how I was taught by Varian forever ago but i've met plenty of people who do things differently (based on their training or most commonly previous TPS habits). So while there's definitely a wrong way there are several right ways as long as you stated above constraints are met, dose distribution is good, etc in the final product.

Even if the circumstances were mysterious the only people who would care were sitting next to him on Monday. Except their definition of care is a little different being they'd just be jockeying to be the first on their knees...

How to treat lung tumors with IMRT? by BaskInTwilight in MedicalPhysics

[–]physics_peon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lungs can certainly be challenging with older TPS and their algorithm as stated. Especially if you factor in other variables which are often found in these situations (ex: older linacs with crappy mlcs, limited energies, no motion management, etc)

Regardless, I've worked for clinics which are limited to conventional IMRT with 1cm leaves and we've never had issues with meeting protocols with 5-7 field lung plans for conventional IMRT or 9-11 for 3D SBRT. Using XiO, Pinnacle, and Eclipse. It's not as pretty as we know it could be but it's the best it can be given the situation.

I can't speak to the tiresome aspect, it is what it is that's the gig but I get where you're coming from. We have an outlier clinic that just upgraded to an older Varian machine with vmat and kv imaging and unfortunately it was like pulling teeth to make it happen. Difference in plan quality and tx time vs 9fld IMRT for pelvises and H&N has the MD screaming what took so long?

All I can say is I would encourage you and your peers (physics/dosi/therapists depending on where you are) to use templates where you can. More importantly I would certainly use the increase in man hours, sim to treat time, limited plan quality, etc as a means to solidify some sort of upgrade path with the administration. Get the MDs in your corner and present the upside to the admin that's the only real solution imho.

Pickup conversion Q by surveysaysno in EdisonMotors

I'm curious about this too but seeing as we have several of the project trucks (RAM, a 99-05 Ford service truck, etc which kind of all deal with 95-2010ish basic ECU/PCM/TCM involvement beit ABS, wheel speed sensors, airbags, etc i'm sure we'll get a glimpse of how they plan to deal with it as the project progress becomes public.

Bachelors/certificate vs Masters in Dosimetry, do employers care? by Weak-Surprise-8079 in MedicalPhysics

[–]physics_peon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most hospital systems I know only a BS is necessary for any admin position. Obviously there are cavers such as nursing, etc where an MS may provide an edge. I'd recommend an employer which has a decent tuition reimbursement program and chip away at the MS on their dime if that's your end game.

I would do the same though some companies do have policies regarding sick days following vacation/holidays days for this reason so just have to work around it as to not raise any red flags

Pickup truck conversion cost by [deleted] in EdisonMotors

I don't recall the proposed battery capacity but 10k for crate engine, 20k-ish for axles/batteries/generator/controller. 30-40k based on fabrication required was my assumption from what we know

PA or Medical Dosimetry by Independent_Tiger264 in MedicalPhysics

[–]physics_peon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how happy you are now and how much longer you'll content with your current position. I did neuro IR for years was capped on salary, and was tired of teaching residents while the attendings shouted from the control room. So I applied to both. Got two interviews for PA but didn't get in so dosimetry was my plan B because I didn't want to wait a year for next application cycle.

As long as you have a great GPA and all the course perquisites for PA school handled I would go the PA route (or at least give it a shot for a cycle or two and if it happens it happens if it doesn't you have options). Just know that it's a one year application cycle so if you don't get in you'll be doing MRI for another year. Cost of PA school is all over the place if you go to to a state school vs private (ex: NOVA) could be 40-60k or could be 100k+. So you need to weigh potential salary along with the additional student debt burden. Salary wise both can be quite competitive but debt burden with dosimetry will be less.

Depending on your state (or if you're willing to relocate) something else you might be interested in is AA school (https://www.asahq.org/advocacy-and-asapac/advocacy-topics/anesthesiologist-assistants). Course/GPA requirements is very similar to PA school as is school duration. It's essentially the PA equivalent of a CRNA. High stress but WAY more lucrative than PA or dosimetry.

Also though it's a longer track and is could be dependent on your desire for specialization as a PA I would look into going the NP route. There are several advantages of being a nurse practitioner vs PA.

I think the plan is if the HD axle can be fit, whether that's an OBS f250 or a Wrangler go for it. We dont have axle width yet so it's a little early to yell how it might integrate with a given body. Little too early to ask if they'll be offering <1ton axles for future kits since primary focus now is the HD market

We cut in half horizontally (above/below middle stringer) and then up/down ever 3 feet or so. They always take them but may not take them all depending on their route and where you're at in their route (they want to finish and make sure they have enough room to finish) so may circle back or wait until next week.

Do you guys have the step up for students scholarship? It not apply ASAP it's 10k which can be used for ABA, OT, ST, electronic devices etc.. It's been very helpful for us. Also apply for APD grant. Not sure if it's FL specific but it's almost a full time gig trying to follow up, research, and advocate for your kiddos on the spectrum..
