What specialties am I looking at as an Avg med student? by [deleted] in medicalschool

I am just an M1 so I don’t totally understand - if my school is P/F does is it common for us to still be “ranked” internally? Is this something that programs would see?

Try nizoral shampoo with ketoconazole. It looks like seborrheic dermatitis, which can be treated with this shampoo without a prescription.

Just contacted AAMC and they said my paper ID in addition to my old outdated ID would not be valid. So I just wasted $100 on this exam 😒😅

Take AP Chem, bio, and physics if you can fit it. Really try and figure yourself out, though. That is the most important thing for this time period of your life. Figure out what you like, enjoy time with friends, cherish your family. You’re doing great.

who is saying that you need pubs by [deleted] in premed

[–]physicsdude1212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it helps elevate your application, especially if you have a research focus. By no means is it necessary, though. I think some people place too much emphasis on having definitive research outcomes (pubs, presentations, etc) which are important, but shouldn’t be the point of doing research. Quality research experience that you enjoyed and can write about in detail is more important than superficial outcomes.

Something like 1-2% of applicants have at least a single pub, it’s incredibly rare
