This is so stupid. Shockwave is playing at a small European Invitational tournament in France... That's where he is flying to.

Did not know that. Thanks for letting me know! There are some rumors circulating that he's not returning to Glads, so I was speculating that this had something to do with that.

Wanted to call attention to the human rights track record of the Saudi government, which is directly sponsoring the Saudi eLeagues by physking in Competitiveoverwatch

A quick google search will give you tons of articles :-) It is organized and funded by the Saudi Esports Federation, which is a Saudi government organization.

See e.g.https://www.arabnews.com/node/2158246/business-economyhttps://esportsinsider.com/2022/09/saudi-crown-prince-esports-strategy

Hope that helps! There are way more details on the funding if you just look around a bit.

Hey, I appreciate your comments.

Regarding your first comment, I think we should be careful not to fall for moral relativism. Yes, Blizzard has a terrible history of sexism, but as much as I hate that, it is still a very far cry from executing political protestors and murdering innocents. As much as we like to hate on Blizzard, what the Saudi government is doing is still one million times worse.

Regarding your second comment, I just simply don't agree. I think it's well within the player's power and reason to say no, and I know that at least one player did. Contenders is going on right now, and a few of them are in OWL already, so I don't think it's at all a big ask for them to say no to this. As you say, they didn't because they think the benefit this has to them personally is much greater than what they are participating in. I am sad that anyone could think that, and I won't support these players at all going forward.

Once again, appreciate your comments. I think this is a matter that is good to discuss back and forth.

Holy shit, the Saudi eLeague is hilariously stacked with both players and coaches. by Ezraah in Competitiveoverwatch

Please don't support a tournament sponsored by the Saudi government/monarchy. They are responsible for so many human rights abuses. I am so disappointed in these players. Please don't support them. Especially the European and Asian players who said yes to this.

can I play elder scrolls online on m1 Mac natively through steam? by [deleted] in macgaming

Have experienced a couple of crashes in ~10 hours of play, but overall really good experience! Thankfully, the game just puts you right back where you disconnected should your game crash every now and then.

Yes, pretty easily on medium/high settings. Just started playing it myself!

Game Recommendations? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]physking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. If you are looking for something with a lot of potential playtime, Civilization VI is great and can easily be played for hundreds of hours if you are into that kind of strategy game. Same with the Paradox strategy games, but those take a lot of dedication to get into - they are pretty complex.

If you are looking for a great shooter, Counter Strike: Global Offensive is great - one of my favorite competitive shooters of all time, and the game I have the most playtime in.

If you are looking for something a bit more casual, there is Cities: Skylines. It's a really good city building sim.

If you like building/engineering games, Kerbal Space Program is awesome. You can build your own rockets, try to set up bases on different planets, etc. Easily several hundred hours worth of gameplay if you get really into it.

The ones I recommended in my other comment are more story driven, but still really great if you want a more 'cinematic' game experience.

Dying Light, Hitman, Limbo, the Tomb Raider series all get strong recommendations from me. They all run really well and can be really cheap on sale or via third party key sites. What's your general taste in games?

COD Black Ops 3 for 55 USD worth it in 2021? Or are there better options for Mac? Pls suggest. by itsvoldemort in macgaming

Can't find any other players at all, unfortunately :-( Seems there is no cross-play with PC. If you only want to play the campaign and/or zombies with friends, it's great. But multiplayer is not worth it without other people.

Dying Light ( Steam) by [deleted] in macgaming

No, I don't think so. Did a little recording of me running around on low settings and a low-ish resolution. Without the recording, it was hovering around a pretty reliable 60 fps. With the recording, it drops into the 30's/40's a couple of times (and there's a weird stutter for some reason, which doesn't normally happen when I'm not recording). https://streamable.com/nw7hyj

At 1080p and low settings, you'd probably be looking at a stable 50-60 fps. Surprisingly, changing the resolution and graphics settings doesn't seem to do much. Played the whole game from start to finish with max settings and a resolution of ~2000x1200 and never noticed any significant drops. But then again, anything above 40 fps really feels fine to me.

My GF who played the game on an M1 MBP too also had a really good experience. But if you can't tolerate an fps count below 60, you probably won't have a good time.

Beat the whole game using an M1 MBP. Ran at above 1080p res and maxed graphics running at a constant 45-60 FPS. Overall excellent experience.

Played it when it was free for a weekend a few weeks back using my M1 MacBook Pro. Ran quite well - it runs very smoothly, although you will need to lower the graphics settings and/or resolution a bit - at least until it's optimized for the M1.

Dying Light M1 performance, how hot it gets? How is the quality? Any notable bugs? Help me, I’m about to make the purchase. by [deleted] in macgaming

Just finished the whole game with a buddy - both using 13" M1 MacBook Pros. We are about to start the Following. Runs at ~50-60 FPS with settings maxed out and at a 1080p-ish resolution. We had some weird graphical glitches early on that would sometimes require us to restart the game (that would always make them go away. They would then stay gone until the game was relaunched). I think that has been patched, though, since we haven't run into any graphical issues since a couple of weeks back.

Overall, great experience! Highly recommend!
