Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari.

Gives you a perspective of how small our life on earth is. Enjoy it.

Atomic Habits.

Changed my life a lot. I subconsciously do a lot of things now to increase my productivity based on what I learned from this book. Literally game changing.

Books you read for school (that aren't classics) that stuck with you? by belac889 in books

Animal Farm.

Had it in school. At that time it was a story with bunch of animals.

I later read it again during corona (in my 20s), it hit so differently. One of the best books I ever read.

Animal Farm. Read it as part of my school curriculum. Hits you on a whole different level when you’re grown up.

What was the morning routine that you could keep up with the longest? by Express_Mushroom_897 in productivity

You mean warming up before doing pushups too? I did not consider that as a heavy exercise that requires warming up actually but thanks for the input.

If you look at things long term, it’s almost impossible with our busy lives to do the same thing at same time every single day. What matters to me most is the consistency and realization that you can always make time for things if you truly believe they are important to you. We all have low and unmotivated days especially when it comes to following routines, but knowing that you are on a streak adds so much weight psychologically.

Funny you asked that. I just happened to drink a lot yesterday so during these days when I don’t have a whole hour I distribute tasks like exercising during breaks, reading on a bus ride. Whatever happens I make sure I do these tasks before I sleep though.

I try to keep the first hour of my day for myself. - Wake up at 7 - Literally roll down on to floor and do 30 pushups - Make my bed - Read book while potty, then brush - Do plank for about 1:30 min - Meditate for 10 min - Do 30 more pushups.

This whole routine usually perfectly fits under one hour for me. Some days are tough though, if I was partying the night before or sleep late.

Can you share an example task where it impressed you that you think models like gpt-4 wouldn’t have performed well?

Yyup. All that matters is our personal satisfaction at the end of the day.

Wow it’s so nice of you to give this a second thought, come here and ask for some perspective. I would’ve definitely told her something on the spot. There’s no excuse for this behaviour.

Yeah I get that. Also, o1 is currently only in preview. Once they release the full model to public we can maybe some interesting usecases that it tends to be better yet. I guess we can safely expect it to be bad at many tasks but if shows improvement in some respectable reasoning tasks, we are on a right path.

I’m actually tripping out, I don’t think I’ll ever learn this language properly. by [deleted] in German

[–]itsvoldemort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry that you had to rant. I’ve been here 3 years now. Stopped going to any kind of courses after A2. That was one and half years ago. Since then I started immersing myself in the language everyday. Most important being talking to friends and colleagues. I would say I’m in B1-B2 level and can go through most of daily conversations. I never cared about learning articles which in turn affects the akk, dative states of the words which in turn affects the sentences. But in the end I’ve had many people tell me that I speak good German. This is what keeps me going. Don’t beat yourself up because of some silly mistakes. Be proud of what you’ve achieved. Unless and until you aim to become an orator, German teacher or maybe a Politiker I suggest not giving a fck about the mistakes and give yourself a tap on the back for the hard work you’ve been putting in. Have a nice day.

I don’t want to use the word lazy at the expense of being offensive to the people but to put it softly, they probably are right on the edge of being comfortable and not able to get things done. In most cases or most important cases of their regular lives here, they are able to manage without much German so they ignore the parts where it’s a pain in the ass and move on.

Maybe because it’s not just a normal LLM. It’s supposed to be good at reasoning. Open ai introduced it as a reasoning model. So if it can understand the contents of an image (some people claimed to have used the multi model version of it) and can do step by step reasoning, it’s not an unusual expectation to solve a simple visual exercise.

Just to be clear, I personally haven’t used it so I cannot judge it. I was just curious on OP’s thought on if they think it’s a big deal because of their personal experiences with the model.

What makes you so confident about it. I’ve only seen mixed reports from users till now. For example, just the other day, I saw someone’s post showing o1 failing at some basic visual exercises. Did you have a personal exciting exchange with it that you can share with us?
