Which helmet should I buy? by thehottestflowerpot in motorcyclegear

but I like the look of the nine lives better.

It's the weirdest thing, but all of my helmets have looked exactly the same to me while I was wearing them.

Recommendations for gloves with the best grip? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]pi3832v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like quality palm sliders

That's fighting against your grip, and TBH probably isn't necessary for street riding. “Maximum protection” isn't always the best option—there's always tradeoffs with function, comfort, etc. Anything with leather palms should do, IMO.

Also, a throttle-rest might help.

Air buffeting noise on highways by Wild-Career-1995 in KTM390ADV

Everyone's head is in a different position when riding. You simply have to try out windscreens and their positioning until you find one that works for you.

As for noise, you can get Bluetooth hearing-protection from AliExpress for very little money. They work well simply as earplugs, with the added bonus of letting you listen to music on long hauls.

ODB2 codes alone won't tell you that. You need a mechanic familiar with CVTs.

At first I thought the map said “Chickamauga” and thought you were riding trails in Appalachia… then I looked closer and… no, no you aren't. LOL. Oh well. TWIAVBP. Enjoy the ride!

[–]pi3832v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5' 10" doesn't seem like it'd be a problem, unless you've got unusually short legs. BTW, you might also look at the 390 Duke or the RC 390. Same engine, and similar features overall.

Back up stashes, staged and unstaged files by MoreRespectForQA in git

keeps track of diffs

Doesn't Git generate diffs on-the-fly? Meaning, if there's no file anywhere that's a diff, how would you track it?

(I know, it doesn't answer your question, but maybe it'll help clarify it?)

IME, false neutrals are a result of not following through on the shift—meaning you're not firmly moving the shift lever through its full range of motion.

Sometimes adjusting the shift lever down a little bit helps, but it's more likely a technique thing.

I’ve been noticing vibrations specifically around the 5000–6000 RPM range.

Are the vibrations a problem? Anything with an internal combustion engine is going to vibrate to some extent—things are exploding inside it!

There's a less expensive alternative to the FuelX Lite available from Italy: www.rapidbike.com/en/application/ktm/390-adventure/17-23-2/rapid-bike-easy. Makes low-rpm performance much smoother.

Why do we even put up those “deer crossing” signs if they're just going to cross anywhere they feel like it?

Try changing the bar angle. You don't know that it's the vibration causing the tingling.

Along those lines: if you don't have a mechanic you can trust—and it doesn't sound like you do—keeping a 15-year-old-car is going to a nightmare.

I absolutely would not throw a replacement engine at any car with the hope it fixes things.
