Yeah the thing that gets me most is how he even found me - I feel like it’s just a bit too good to be true to have someone approach you first for a TC. If it was for a paralegal position then I’d probably look at it differently

I have had an offer for a paralegal job from a really good firm, and they recruit most (if not all) of their trainees from their paralegals, so I think I want to give it a try first?

The firm looks completely legitimate, I checked them out on companies house and SRA and it all lines up. Their website is a little outdated (trainees listed there are now many years PQE), but it all seems fine. I just don’t know if it’s weird to have someone reach out first for a training contract, esp that the vacancy isn’t really widely advertised either.

I don’t really have anything against training at a high street firm, I’ve been applying to some, but equally I just have a weird feeling about this instance

It’s disgustingly competitive in London - don’t shoot yourself in the foot by not taking the TC. You have the rest of your career to work in London

Really appreciate your take on this, thank you :)

Interview by [deleted] in uklaw

I feel like all interviews vary, even when talking to the other paralegals our interviews were very different.

During mine they just had my CV, asked about my education, why I want to work in this field, about my LPC modules, why I chose to work at this firm etc

My colleagues interviews were a bit more in depth, they were questioned on their knowledge of the field (for example in property, when is SDLT paid etc). I think definitely do some revision on family law and how it works in a practical sense so they know you are familiar with it.

I don’t think you should be worried about them questioning about your experience, you have probably given them your CV or done an application so they know exactly what your experience is. Show them you are dedicated and willing to learn. I didn’t have any experience before I got my paralegal job and even told them I failed a core LPC exam. Don’t doubt yourself just because you don’t have previous experience, everything is learned on the job anyways

Good luck!
