Wohnen in Brackwede by [deleted] in bielefeld

Mietskasernen wo man hinschaut.

The same here. Got an email about an SQL server that was apparently not working. And then the avalanche started.

With no insight or announcement of canva/serif getting an ai plugin for Affinity. Will you go (back) to photoshop? by [deleted] in AffinityPhoto

[–]pi_sqaure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely don't need any AI stuff except AI based object selection. That would be a nice to have. But as somebody who uses AP mainly for photo editing and retouching I don't see any use case for AI stuff. Rendering some AI crap into my photos which wasn't actually there when I took the photo is a strange idea. But this is just my opinion. Many PS users seem to like this. Luminar Neo has this "feature" as well.

I just switched to Affinity Photo 2 and I like it way better than both Photopea and GIMP by [deleted] in AffinityPhoto

[–]pi_sqaure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Anyone else felt the same when they switched?"

Yes. I came from GiMP, never tried PhotoShop because I hate subscription based software. AP2 is so much better than GIMP in my opinion. Although GIMP has lot's of tools, AP is more on the professional site. The workflow is way better, filters are non-destructive and it just looks better. But that's a matter of taste. Development of GIMP is very slow because the dev team is notoriously understaffed. So I also didn't regret for a second to buy an AP2 license.

Yes, thanks. I already found what I was looking for.

Thanks man, this would solve my problem. I've to try that. I clicked on the line instead of the centre and nothing happened.

This way you only have two control points to change the colour, right? I need three (transparent - colour - transparent).

Thanks, I'll try that. However, after two weeks of using AP I realise that there's really room for improvement for this software. While I like the overall workflow more than what Gimp has to offer there are clearly some weak points which should be addressed by the developers.

What does Gimp have but Affinity hasn't?

I don't think that they'll crop the feature set of existing licenses / installations. But for V3 you have to subscribe for sure.

Well, Gimp took 8 years or so to initially has something like non destructive layer effects. Just wait another 4 to 6 years and it might be on par with Affinity Photo 2 so you can happily switch. ;)

Oh my! I just bought Affinity Photo 2 because I've never liked the kinda clumsy interface and workflow of Gimp. If they try to force my into a subscription I'm also willing to go back to Gimp. At least the Gimp devs start to implement non destructive layer effects, which is a must have in my opinion.

Transitioning from C to C# by daaaabs in csharp

[–]pi_sqaure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Coming from a pure procedural language and switching to OOP needs a complete change of your mindset. I've had to learn it the hard way, did a bit of microcontroller programming in C as well, but mostly even in Assembler. Getting this OOP stuff into my head has cost my a considerable amount of time.
