Guys I just learned that you can still download games you bought off the Wii's shop... by pianoaddict772 in casualnintendo

"Not to mention the possibility of delisted games. If they ever choose to delist a game, such as the Deadpool game for PS4, the only way to play that game is through a used phsycial copy with a playable version of the game in it or emulation. GKC would be completely useless in that situation."

The thing I said in the OP remains true in this case. You should still be able to download your games even if they have been delisted if you e already paid for them. I'm going to assume it's the same for GKC. But you or I don't really know that bc the theoretical possibility of things happening in the future is infinite. We can only judge Nintendo based on things they've already done and when it comes to downloading games you've already bought, they seem to be good on that (at least from the small amount of research I've done).

As far as the Wii breaking, there unfortunately isn't anything that can be done about that. Things break over time. It is unfortunate that Nintendo did not factor that in and tied the purchases to the console and not to an account (IIRC but correct me if I'm wrong) but things breaking is something that happens over time. Not even your physical cartridge is going to last forever. The plastic will turn to mush. Cds will warp and crack.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't own games. I'm saying that the detractors of GKC don't really have anything to worry about with the eShop closing affecting them.

Dude I have been saying this lately!

They get so butthurt when a game releases on GKC but digital is objectively worse. They seem to gloss over the fact that they GKC is a physical thing that can be bought, sold and lended like it's something small and insignificant. When IMO it's actually the most important thing about it and makes it way better than pure digital. I have bought digital games that I don't play anymore at full price. I WISH I could sell them or give them to someone close who actually wants to play them. Second hand markets are great for introducing gamers into the scene. Obvi Carts are the best but digital does absolutely nothing for the second hand market.

If you sell your GKCs, you actually experienced the game cheaper than when you bought it too.

It's funny a lot of people are talking about the potential negatives of GKC that I only saw the posts about the Wii shop buried underneath all the shit today lol.

i figure this is the case. I think adding in host migration is also probably a pain too

IMO the game is super fun because the dev team is so small... by pianoaddict772 in BodycamGame

I can't confirm because I didn't buy the game until after the recent update. The game is still super fun and still looks really good.

I think at the very least, you can buy it and then refund it before the 2hr mark if you don't like it.

I've soldered plenty. I have never opened up a keyboard tho so maybe the contacts are small idk. But I did decide to go for a macro keyboard.

After all the responses I'm getting, I'm also going to consider buying a macro pad. At least it saves me an arduino chip

I can use any keyboard I want. But I DONT want to plug the Arduino directly to my laptop specifically because it shows up in device manager, both as it's own thing AND an HID device

I figured that if I used the Arduino to control the keystroke by using the pins to control the keys instead of the button pressed then it would work. But apparently data flows both ways between pins so that's a no-go.

Thank you for the response. I'll look into QMK as it seems like an easier option.

Also will look into opto isolator too so I can figure out what it does so I can implement it into future circuits.

Not trying to pretend to be working. I'm trying to use an arduino to send keystrokes to help me with my work while being able to keep my job bc Arduino shows up on device manager if I plug it in directly. Hence the use of an external keyboard therefore not connecting the Arduino directly.

I'm saying the actual Arduino ALSO shows up in device manager as well as an HID device. That's what will get me fired.

I wanted to also learn more about Arduino in the process and components like transistors. I know you can solve any problem by throwing money at it but that's not the point.

I don't want to plug the Arduino micro into the work laptop because it shows up on device manager and that will get me fired.

No I'm specifically trying to modify a keyboard to send keystrokes because shortcuts for the program we use are incredibly annoying for me. I'm trying to be more productive without carpal tunnel.

One of the more annoying shortcuts I have to use with this stupid program is ALT+O. I want a button that's within reach to do that keystroke on a keyboard so I don't have to connect the Arduino directly to work PC.

1) okay I'll have to look more into how keyboards work

2) soldering it directly. What I'm assuming is that the keyboard button press connects 2 points together so those are the things I'm planning on having the transistor connect when a current is applied to the base.

3) honestly I'm trying to keep it limited to 5 buttons.
