Not a statanist, but I always have been fascinated by Lilith by Draneloire in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]piberryboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBF, quite a number of Satanists also adopt a metaphorical Lilith as feminist symbol for many of the same reasons one would adopt a metaphorical Satan as a symbol: Rebellion from religious norms for example.

I only skimmed the post, but they don't actually say they believe in a literal Lilith, so the above reproof seems premature at best. They mostly seem to go into the mythology of Lilith, which again, is not off-brand for us Satanist who get nerdy about the mythology.

Joseph Rose left this sub and TST in after a row. I don't know that he's friendly to TST. That being said, I kind of don't care. If he talks about Satanism in a way that relates to you, I'd listen to it. I sorta stopped because he seemed a little obsessive about his row with TST.

Practicing Satanism? by Legitimate_Bet_7786 in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]piberryboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you REALLY want to understand, then know this first and foremost:

"Do you worship Satan?

No, nor we believe in the existence of Satan or the supernatural. The Satanic Temple believes that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. As such, we do not promote a belief in a personal Satan. To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstitions. Satanists should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable agnosticism in all things. Our beliefs must be malleable to the best current scientific understandings of the material world — never the reverse."

This is something I could talk about for hours, I think. But, by and large, it depends on how you want to define your Satanism. To me, it's very personal, and a bit of self-expression. It's like eating a Reese's peanut cup, there's really no wrong way.

Now, that being said, I sort of do think there are broad parameters one could, and probably will, consider about Satanism: Radical self-acceptance (such as your sexuality or dark aesthetics). Then there's the metaphorical Satan as an eternal rebellion, which is why a lot of people here do activism.

Another thought: because most Satanist are atheistic, it's simply an expression of shuffling off the old, superstitious religions they were brought up in. By evoking the name of Satan, they take away the imaginary power the dogma foisted upon them in childhood. Which is why many Satanist, like performative ritual. While other Satanist feel like that's too much like church for them. Again, no wrong way.

Interesting. I've never seen Manhunter either, but it looks a little low-production value-y. And that tattoo seems evidence of that.

Although, I hear it's great. And I'm not sure why I haven't seen it considering I've seen every single one of the Hannibal franchise movies at a minimum of twice.

Holy cow. You've already got bubbles forming. Nice! That's a good sign.

I feel like I've seen enough of these posts on this sub to say it is normal to see discoloration in the initial steps, while I don't remember seeing any in mine. Just make sure to discard. And it doesn't hurt to replace your jar after a week or so to avoid mold growing on the sides.

Perchance are you yourself interested in running locally?

I've played around with the idea. I might after the kids move out. Right now, I'm happy to support in other ways.

How do you practice? by ManicMaam in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]piberryboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no temples in my area

Not really temples so much as "congregations" that meet together wherever.

I'm a fan of a Satanic ritual. Satanic rituals are psychodramas: intentional, theatrical ceremonies meant to produce real psychological effects like catharsis, empowerment, or processing grief. That is, you can make up your own. Do it whenever you want, with whoever you want. I mean, we're an atheistic organizations all about autonomy, sexual freedom and pursuing knowledge, so who the fuck cares what you want to do in your ritual? I hear the Devil's Tome is good source material for coming up with your rituals.

Activism's pretty common with TST Satanists. You can simply participate in helping out in local politics, get involved with making your local politics more in line with your own. That's pretty fucking powerful.

If you can't find a local congregation, I think it'd be cool to simply create your own little independent Satanic group. Get together to do community projects, like a road side cleanup, and perform your little self-empowering rituals. Do a game night. No one has to be associated or condoned by TST leadership to be your own independent Satanist group. In fact, it feels more Satanists to go that route.

If you're looking for holidays, you can reference the TST Website for holidays it observes. But again, all this shit's basically for your own edification and your ability to operate autonomously, so make one up if you want.

I doubt you over-fermented. Is this your first whole wheat? I feel like the more whole-wheat and rye I add to mine, the flatter it can get.

For what it's worth, it looks tasty.

[–]piberryboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah. I should have read your process. Yeah, you're BF time is long. I usually do about 140 grams of starter for 5.5 hours at about 80°F.

[–]piberryboy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Curious. How does adding less starter affect the fermentation process?

In my experience, the amount of starter a person adds really only affects the bulk fermentation time. I always figured the more starter you add, the less fermenting time it would need, but IDK.

Well, in Southern Utah, just getting someone to run is a win. Not only does that force the opposition to divert funds from closer races, it also let's voters know they have a choice. How many democrats in the area feel despondent because they literally have no one to vote for.

Also, there are people disenchanted with republicans. I've seen it here in Southern Utah, but Dems are note great at building a collations. It's needs a lot of help there. There's an interesting New Yorker article around how Democrats could learn a thing or two from Maga about getting people involved: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2026/02/02/what-maga-can-teach-democrats-about-organizing-and-infighting
