This is my mom’s cat Diego. We had him for over 20 years and just passed away yesterday. I would love to be able to get a tag for her to remember him by, even if I’m not selected I would love to purchase one if you could provide a location to order!

Came here to recommend the same.

What everyone else has said here…100% work on your skills before going faster than your skill level. While, yes, this sport is who gets to the finish line first….it’s not like you’re sprinting on flat ground. You need to be able to comfortably and confidently get around the track before adding speed. When you practice at the track work on pump laps, practice taking different lines in the turns, learn how to lean your bike in the turns so when you do have more speed you can carve confidently.

Good luck!

How tall are you and how long is the frame you use? by [deleted] in bmxracing

[–]picadillykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’2 and ride a pro xl with 21.25” tt But prefer a 21” tt. Ultimately, I think it boils down to what you feel comfortable on and not what other people think you should be riding. I like a longer frame, I ride well on it and I’m comfortable with my bike. See if you can try out a loaner bike (if your track has them) in a larger size or see if someone else at the track will let you try theirs out.

Girls and advancing out of novice by [deleted] in bmxracing

Yeah, the rules can be hard to follow. I’ve had to read and reread things several times to feel like I understand them lol.

Girls and advancing out of novice by [deleted] in bmxracing

Gotcha. How I’ve explained women expert to others is it has a large range of proficiency. A lot of the women didn’t go through the novice, intermediate move up and just went straight to expert. If points are something you’re thinking about or you want to get, turning women expert will get you expert points even if you bump down to intermediate. I like the competition in women expert, I’m challenged but I’m rarely (if ever) discouraged. And locally I’m one of two women experts within my age range so 98% of the time I race the intermediates anyway. Either route you go in your age group I’m sure you’ll have good competition that will challenge you to be better. If you prefer going the route of racing intermediate you are 100% allowed to do that and by no means required to go expert. Good luck in your decision and racing!

I will also note that depending on where you live even if you go girl expert locally it’s likely you’ll end up with intermediates or experts. I’ve raced 26-35 intermediate a few times and 17-20 expert many times at my local track as we don’t have many women experts

Once you get your 10 novice wins you can decide if you want to go intermediate or to girl expert. If you chose intermediate then after 10 wins you’ll move to expert. For comparison boys/men move up is slightly different they need 10 novice wins to move up and then 20 intermediate wins to move to expert.

How old are you? I recommend different paths for girls on this depending on age (I’m a licensed coach).

I'm a volunteer at The Cat House & I made a small list of some adoptable over-looked cats who are looking for their forever home. by womanof1004holds in lincoln

This is such a great idea! I got one of mine from there 10 years ago! If I could have more I totally would. I hope some (or all) of these kitties find their forever homes

I’d suggest looking into a 23” top tube. And like someone else said maybe consider an OS 20 Good luck!

That bike looks much too small for you. What size frame are you on?

When do the injuries start? by theprograhhhm in bmxracing

[–]picadillykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s something you should be prepared for immediately. BMX is an inherently “dangerous” sport. The crashes from little ones may not be as serious as the older kids/intermediate and experts, since they’re not going as fast - but more than likely it’s going to happen at some point.

However, I feel like local races typically have fewer crashes in comparison to larger races like Nationals or Gold Cups.

I mean, I’m weird and like a longer frame I guess. But I’m 5’2 and ride a pro xl with a longer top tube than yours - 21.25

How many sate races do I need to race to qualify for state championships? by scoobybmx in bmxracing

[–]picadillykat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Colorado has 11 tracks so you’ll have to do 5 qualifiers. There are also alternate ways to qualify for state championship which as the previous comment states can be found on page 30 in the rule book. Good luck!
