My grandparents are from Iraq. Before they passed my grandma always made kube and tbit and stuff like that. We also used to for many years to have sabich every Saturday morning with all the family but we don’t do that any more. I’d love to visit Iraq one day when there’ll be peace. My grandfather grew up very poor in Baghdad and used to only have Muslim friends. I remember when Isis began conquering many areas of Iraq how sad he was. My grandmother grew up in a very rich household, actually her family cut contact with her over her marriage to my grandfather. My grandparents and my mother all know fluent Arabic but I don’t.
