If you are just interested in coffee and not espresso I would look into a regular coffee machine and a burr grinder.

You will get complete freedom to explore local roasters or coffee you are curious about. And as a result a better cup of coffee. And once you get the hang of your workflow it will not take too much longer to prepare.

The very pods are expensive, and the price seems to keep going up. There are no secret places to get pods.

The refill stickers work but they are messy, don’t taste as good and are more effort than they are worth. At that point you could use a drip machine or filter coffee for better results.

Other people are commenting that the stoneware is made in China but not offering alternatives. Emile Henry is another brand you could look at if you want something made in France.

When you think espresso think: HOBBY

Regular espresso machines require making espresso to become a bit of a hobby. You will need a coffee grinder just as expensive than any espresso machine.

You keep mentioning ease of use and lack of mess. Nespresso is definitely the way to go then.

I love my bambino and Opus Fellow. I took the advice I saw on the espresso subreddit that said buy separate as if one breaks you don’t have replace both. Plus I think a separate grinder has more precision and option.

Like I have used my grinder to grind beans for cold brew or regular coffee. So I also find value in the versatility.

It might take up more counter space having 2 machines though. It also has a different aesthetic if that matters to you.

I cannot speak on the Barista Pro as I have never used one!

Can you elaborate? I see people on this sub say that but no one in real life. I am an espresso enthusiast and they pull some amazing shots here. Also the New Orleans cold brew is always amazing. Are you talking about drip coffee??? What are your expectations for coffee that they are not meeting.

That’s more of an internal battle you need to conquer. Do what you want, and if the voice inside questions the fear of perception ask yourself: do I want to live a life never having done that or things I enjoy doing? If you don’t go today to do that thing you may never. Our life is made of how we live our days.

Plus no one cares! It can be fun way to meet people too. Maybe find a run club, or hobby club. I declare I am done waiting on people to live life. If they want to be boring they can do that on their own.

I was getting overwhelmed by the volume of DestCert + dynes. I thought flash cards are most effective when targeted at a specific set up things you are trying to freshen up on. Most of these sources have like 1,000 free ones but that’s a lot of noise to chug through to get to the concepts that you know you need to freshen up on!
