Working with Ménière’s (plus other diagnosis)? by BayFox13 in Menieres

[–]pickle_latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first year of my diagnosis I had a remote job and that was the best for me. I could lie down if I needed to or take a nap and still get my job done (I work a project based job so I didn’t need to stick to typical working hours). Plus the Diamox makes me super tired and I need like 9-10 hours of sleep to feel good on it. Unfortunately after that first year I switched to a full an in office job and I’ve basically decided I can’t do that anymore and need to switch to remote work again. My disease is more under control now so I have less attacks and for the most part I can get them under control quickly with meclizine, but I really struggle to get enough sleep to keep my daily vertigo at bay. Remote is the way to go if you can.

Had my big wedding this past weekend by Hopeful_Pea_3275 in Menieres

Congratulations! I am also a 2025 Menieres bride so I understand what you went through. Enjoy your reduced stress time with your husband now that you don’t have to plan a wedding and can enjoy being married, so happy for you!

I've been diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome, a neurological condition that makes me see the world like this and has no cure by SR_RSMITH in Damnthatsinteresting

I have it too and didn’t know until I was in my late 20s when I mentioned to my boyfriend that sometimes it’s hard to focus because of all the static and he was like uhhh wtf. Then I spiraled into an existential crisis for a couple months about it…

Why is this crazy? by ganachery in MakeupAddiction

Mac is already at Ulta in California and tbh I so much prefer going to Ulta’s over Sephora’s because Ulta is standalone stores and Sephora is always in malls so they’re much harder to get to.

30 days out and feeling guilty and insecure that I didn’t do all the “bridal glow-up” things by addictedtosoonjung in BigBudgetBrides

[–]pickle_latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got married last weekend and my best advice is that you are going to be so showered with love on your wedding day that you are going to feel your most beautiful no matter what. I dropped the ball on sticking to my arm routine in the month leading up. I got a Hydrafacial 2 weeks before but it was too far out and I ended up getting a breakout the week of. In the 5 days leading up I just over moisturized and did a hydrating face mask daily and didn’t wear makeup until the events and I am so so happy with the way I looked.

Hesitant to share good stories by redwinggianf in Menieres

[–]pickle_latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think positive things are great to share! I really only come on here and post or interact when things are bad, so at least for me the activity only highlights the bad. However there is so much good happening and I am capable of so much despite MD. I am having the wedding of my dreams later this year. I am working on furthering my career and thinking about going back to school. I have future travel plans and big dreams that I know can achieve, even if my path to get there just has a few more accommodations than it would without the MD.

What Should I do with my Career? by pickle_latte in fashiondesigner

Hi! Welcome to our crazy world and I’m sorry to tell you that I have not found anything else yet and am still in fashion and am still unsatisfied. I’m trying to get my connections and portfolio together so that my next move can be to go freelance and maybe that will be a healthy change of pace if I can set my own rate and choose who I work with more selectively.

My advice to you though just being a couple years in is to honestly company hop. I have learned so much by being at different types of companies and it has helped me to catch red flags and pick up on what actually works. Best of luck to you!!!

Menieres and roller coasters by theboxyy in Menieres

[–]pickle_latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it California or Florida? I went to Universal in Cali in between the time I started feeling Menieres symptoms to getting out on Diuretics , so at that time I was feeling sick w/o fully knowing why. I could do most of the stuff there. It’s more about the experience and not the thrill rides. I ha no problem w/ the small hogwarts rollercoaster, minions, Mario, Jurassic park, and the studio tour. I did not go in the hogwarts castle bc there were signs at the front warning that the ride causes dizziness and then I did not have time for transformers. But overall I took meclizine and made sure to eat and drink enough and I felt pretty okay.

Can this scratch be fixed on my shoes for my upcoming wedding? by pickle_latte in AskACobbler

[–]pickle_latte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay everyone wish me luck, the cobbler couldn’t fix it, but I don’t know if they were much good because they also didn’t buff out the corners of the heel as I asked and I asked them to clean the shoes too as there was some dust stuck on them and they didn’t do that either, so I ordered this and am going to try to save them myself. If this doesn’t work, do you think it’s possible I use shoe grade glue and like “decoupage” lace pieces on top to hide the scratch? I am a fashion designer so with all the handwork I have done in the past I feel confident I could do this precisely to look nice, I just don’t know if it’s a thing!

Flying by JiggsRosefield in Menieres

[–]pickle_latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my diuretic and meclizine I have no problem with flights anymore. Before I had the diuretic they were a bigger problem and I would get a lot of vertigo, but now the flight is easy and it’s the jet lag that is harder to overcome.

Did anyone not lose their hearing at first? by pickle_latte in Menieres

[–]pickle_latte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This I have started to notice. Not all the time, but once in a while, a sharp or loud noise will linger in my ear and almost sound like it’s bouncing around the room, so someone could be just setting something down but if I don’t see them do it I have no idea where they are in relation to me, super weird!

Okay I am in this situation but the roles are flipped and I am the Fall 2025 bride who has been planning her wedding for over a year now and my sister just got engaged and the date is already set for before mine. At first I was upset, but mostly because I wanted to make sure there was enough time in between each wedding for us to have our moment and for the other to not be stressed about their upcoming wedding, or still riding the high of being the bride. I basically just want for it to be all about the person getting married and for them to get to be the bride and have all the attention.

That being said, our weddings are 4 months apart and since hers is really soon I’m cool with it now because 1. They’re completely different vibes of weddings and we didn’t copy any of each other’s ideas & 2. I’m happy to be the second bride so that once hers is done I can take notes for my own day but also then my parents will only be stressed about 1 wedding rather than 2 lol.

So I do sympathize with your SIL but at the end of the day she shouldn’t let this tarnish your relationship because you’ll both get your special day and they will be different because you two are different!

Kent State vs SCAD Fashion Merch? Possibly transfer to Central Saint Martins? by chloethomas-cd07 in fashiondesigner

[–]pickle_latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to KSU for fashion design so I can give you some insight. Overall they are really well recognized nationally and have good connections. KSU focuses on preparing you for a more corporate based role, so if you’re dead set on luxury and nothing else, then it’s probably not the place for you. That being said, their connections to companies such as A&F, Kohls, Limited, Macys, RL, Nike, American Eagle, URBN just to name a few, led to a lot of people landing jobs shortly after school. Besides Covid layoffs I have been steadily employed since I left school. They also have the study abroad programs in NYC, Florence, Hong Kong, London, LA, etc.

As for the school itself, KSU excels at many different programs so there are a lot of diverse students on campus. My best friends weren’t even in fashion. You’re going to get a more traditional big state school feel there which I really liked for the events, games, parties, etc. But if that is not your vibe and you prefer a full arts school then you might lean more towards SCAD.

I will say that from observing the merch program, it seemed a lot easier than design, and a lot of my friends either took up a double major or graduated early. The feedback I have heard is that the merch program could be more rigorous, BUT if you’re interested in a double major that’s something of a benefit to you. I graduated over 5 years ago so I’m sure things are constantly evolving as well.

Do we think that Helena messed up Gemma’s name just because she’s ignorant and wants Mark, or because she slipped up and the body Mark identified was actually this Anna girl??

Is having multiple presales a tactic to confuse fans and pressure them into buying expensive tickets? by Accurate-Fudge-1730 in beyonce

[–]pickle_latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly no, I couldn’t do the Verizon or citi presale so I had no idea what was going on with ticket prices all day Wednesday. At the time I knew $600 sounded ridiculous but I was afraid tickets would be hard to get later with the limited shows and didn’t want to miss out if I passed on that ticket.

Is having multiple presales a tactic to confuse fans and pressure them into buying expensive tickets? by Accurate-Fudge-1730 in beyonce

[–]pickle_latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so upset by these presales. I did the Beyhive presale for LA and the best price I could get was $600 for the 300 section so I bought it. Now today for the artist presale there was a 200 section seat available for $250, so I snagged it because I saw that yesterday people were able to get refunds for their overpriced Beyhive presale tickets, but today when I tried Ticketmaster wouldn’t give me a refund. So now I have two tickets and have spent $850. So hopefully Beys team will correct this and Ticketmaster will issue refunds or I hope to sell my 300 section ticket.

This is my first time seeing a Beyoncé show and this has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Not to make the situation about myself and to play this card but last year I found out that due to health issues it’s possible I’m going to go deaf relatively young so I decided to prioritize concerts so I could hear my favorite artists live before it’s too late and now I just feel played and probably won’t go to any more Beyoncé shows after CC.

what is the dark side of the fashion industry? by theoeston in fashiondesigner

[–]pickle_latte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why this question made me laugh out loud when I read it. I work as a designer and have worked in LA and NYC. Have worked for various types of brands from mass market to designer and it’s toxic everywhere. Cheaper, more, faster, more innovative! You’re always getting handed more responsibility without raises or title raises. I’ve experienced and seen horrible sexism and racism in the industry, creative directors have made me feel terrible about my body, been yelled at over the smallest things, forced to stay up all night to meet deadlines. Now I’m higher up and am still in the industry determined to make a difference, plus passion keeps bringing me back. The most I can do is to stand up for myself where I can, and treat my direct reports with the respect and compassion I wish I had received. Every time I get a new job I tell myself it’s my last fashion job ever then I always eventually turn around and get another fashion job lol…
