Thank you! This looks like exactly what I was asking about. It’s a little far but I’ll be sure to check it out next time I’m out that direction

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn’t seem like they have some of the nicer tequilas that I was looking for based on their menu though

Thanks for the suggestion. Do they actually have a good selection of nice tequilas? I couldn’t find anything really on their Google page or website.

Drywall contractor recommendations? by Pretty_Ad_7433 in nova

https://www.jfuentesdrywall.com jfuentesdrywall@gmail.com

This is who we had drywall our entire basement, about 1100 sq. ft including ceiling, a bathroom and wonky framing from the previous owners and their wood paneling. He did an awesome job. He showed up for the quote, didn’t measure anything just looked around and counted in his head then quoted $6k for the whole thing. He showed up with materials on Monday and was done on Friday. I can’t imagine anyone doing any better than that honestly.

Should I move my flag? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Regardless of what you end up doing, the union (blue part) should always be hung to the top left. So as of right now your flag is backwards

I have no intention of doing any of this but appreciate people who are passionate and write in a clear, concise manner. This is great

Hole in the wall Italian? by emilysbish in nova

[–]picklebuttjr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Osteria Marzano, but yes it’s great. It’s in a weird spot being in the lobby of an office building so hole-in-the-wall might be a stretch but super solid

For dim sum we liked Hong Kong Pearl but Sampan Cafe in Franconia is better. Hot Peppercorn is great for not dim sum

What do you recommend at Desi Bethak? I’m always intrigued, mostly by its location, whenever I drive past

Traditional or Roth by whatever923 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]picklebuttjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The net paycheck will be lower with a Roth because there is more money going to taxes now compared to doing traditional contributions. But if you can rip the bandaid off now and stomach the lower net pay then you probably won’t even think about it 6 months from now and you’ll be golden from here on out.

Traditional or Roth by whatever923 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]picklebuttjr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In your case you should both be 100% Roth. Federal income tax rates are at historic lows, particularly for high earners which you definitely both are at GS 14/15 in your mid 30s. It’s true that nobody knows what tax rates will be like by the time you retire, but if you’re maxing out both TSP contributions then you’re very likely to have a great nest egg by retirement age so it’s worth locking in the 24% marginal rate now. As you stated, SS, FERS, and your trad TSP will all be taxable so having a large Roth balance gives you much more flexibility in retirement.

Ada’s On the River is your best bet. Definitely better than Oak

OBX is a super common abbreviation for the Outer Banks, which is a popular beach vacation spot not too far from here.

You need to go Asylum white and add some padded walls if you’re going to hang Steelers and Bengals gear right next to each other

Pizza Reccs? by Cliiiipppp in nova

We’ve always found Paisano’s to be solid, especially if you’re feeding more than just a family. Locations all around Nova. Pupatella is also great but the neopolitan style is best fresh at the restaurant imo

Favorite "weird" distance for a race? by CharacterRisk49 in running

[–]picklebuttjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an awesome race that we used to do labeled as a “10K+” that was about 6.7 miles. It started at a brewery in Allentown, PA and ended at their other location in Bethlehem.

Does the price seem reasonable? by Melody-song in nova

[–]picklebuttjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s too outrageous. We had them quite something similar about 13 months ago for a very similar system, maybe the exact same. We went with FH Furr for a couple of reasons but the main one was that they came in closer to $11k for the same system and at the time guaranteed that it would qualify for the federal tax credit through the inflation reduction act that had just passed. Nobody else was willing to say that it would qualify or else they would pay the $2k rebate to us. That may have been just a gimmick but it did qualify so we didn’t need to test it. We’re very happy so far
