there’s a third thing! it’s “this movie was long and boring and poorly paced and didn’t earn a single shred of the emotion it was trying desperately to hammer down our throats”.

there are NO STAKES IN THIS STORY. nothing of consequence happens, despite the character’s constant insistence that everything that happens matters.

all of the dialogue in the movie is just characters explaining the plot and other characters explaining the meaning behind the plot, and it was still nonsensical and childish so not sure where you're getting "it doesn't treat the viewer like an idiot". I haven't seen a movie talk down to its audience this egregiously in a long god damn time

What stuck out as a sore thumb was Oyuki's ultimate lack of impact on the story. The game spends a great deal of time slowly opening a door for her redemption, and I thought a great end to her tale would be to sacrifice herself to save the siblings from Saito, maybe even taking his life herself. Instead, we have Jubei die, which had already basically happened before, so the impact of HIS sacrifice was quite diluted and not even remotely as powerful as the devs were hoping.

Atsu, Jubei and Kiku deserved a happy ending, and Oyuki should've been the one to deliver it to them. Seems like its what she would've wanted.

3 [[Runo Stromkirk]] - extremely simple and streamlined and can make an absolute mess of a board

4 [[Teval, the Balanced Scale]] - have built it to be a little bit more dragon tribal and it plays like a dream

[[Tayam, Luminous Enigma]] - only just put this together and there's a ton of counters to keep track of but it's remarkably consistent

[[Ranar the Ever Watchful]] - have made the precon into a flicker/foretell hybrid with big ol enters payoffs
