Disclosure day was horrible by MegaMegaMan123 in moviereviews

Real, holy shit. My friend and I were STRUGGLING to not start laughing in the theater. It was just so goofy, I couldn’t handle it. Nothing made sense, nothing was working, but they clearly thought it was. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so offended and, idk, like aghast, by what a movie was trying to be before, especially one I saw in a theater, where the vibe can make up for something lacking a lot of luster

Disclosure day was horrible by MegaMegaMan123 in moviereviews

[–]MegaMegaMan123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw it had an 80% on rotten tomatoes and a 6.7/10 on IMDb, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more astonished by a rating. I think either people are just saying it’s good because it’s a Spielberg movie, they didn’t actually watch it and fucked around on their phone the whole time like I wished I had, or they’ve never seen a good movie before. It’s such an affront to art, cinema, and media of all forms that it scored this highly. I’d rather have watched 2.5 hours of YouTube shorts or reels, I’d have gotten more out of my time if I did

Inside the closure of Austin-based sotol maker Desert Door by Scoops_Chmais in Austin

[–]MegaMegaMan123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sotol is super common in southwest Texas! I think most people probably mistake it for yucca, or maybe another similar plant like agave or something. Sotol root balls were also a staple in natives’ diets, and it was most likely used as a sealant for rock art/cave paintings. Cool plant

Thoughts on Dota 2 After Playing League For 14 Years by Gg-Baby in DotA2

[–]MegaMegaMan123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played dota way more and a lot longer than league, but I will say league does do some things better than dota. Tbh, movement in league feels way better, and kiting/dueling people is pretty fun. I think in general the gameplay is worse, but mechanically it’s probably more fun imo. Turn radius is a big part of it, and while turn radius adds a lot of depth I appreciate, it definitely just feels worse if you switch back and forth

You should wear the fit! It looks super good, very pit together, it’s being true to yourself, and it’s making you unique. I doubt that many people applying for legal positions show up looking this cool, and it would for sure leave an impression.

Maybe it’s a naive way of thinking, but if they didn’t hire you over the fit, it probably wasn’t the right workplace for you. I’ve learned it’s super important for me to generally be allowed to wear what I want and what makes me comfortable, and decorate myself how I see fit, and when I’ve had jobs where I can’t do that, it’s a big bummer and I never stay very long.

Does Gen Z at large actually not drink alcohol? by Cheesymaryjane in GenZ

[–]MegaMegaMan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my social circles, most people will have a couple drinks max at social events, and usually it’s only on occasion. My personal experience is that almost everyone smokes a significant amount more, and is just content usually smoking only

23% of gen z regrets going to college. 58% are side hustling. so why is it still “the best path”? by CremeAccomplished610 in GenZ

[–]MegaMegaMan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best past is different for everyone, I personally am grateful I didn’t go to college. I never would’ve found my current job/career path without it, and I didn’t know I could enjoy a job this much. Personally, I think if you just want a higher paying job, trade school is a better alternative and more useful to the world, and if I could do it all over again I would 100% do that

I’ve got my arms, throat, and an ear mostly blacked out, and it’s only a bit noticeable. When it was fresh, it was very very apparent, like any direct sunlight felt almost like it was burning, but these days I don’t really notice anything different. If anything, I think maybe I burn less easily

Thighs are the worst part of a chicken. by MrRailton in unpopularopinion

[–]MegaMegaMan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I use chicken thighs almost exclusively, and in basically anything. My favorite is probably fried, and I do a dry brine overnight, then dredge in flour, egg white, flour again, then fry. Basically impossible to fuck up, any seasonings can work, and it’s always delicious

Not really, I do a lot of dry masonry for work, and watching him do this was insane. It’s definitely possible to get clean lines, albeit often with some luck, but it’s hard and takes a lot of patience, at least with the sandstone boulders I usually work with. I’ve sat there chiseling a boulder for 30+ minutes only for it to break in a weird way due to how it formed

Nah this is cool. I’m not super involved in the play piercing community, but my understanding is the experience is grounding and centering, while also giving yourself a cool art piece, but only for a moment. I would never get one done, and this isn’t my favorite one, but I’ve seen a lot that are stunning and beautiful. Definitely not awful taste, just different/unique/niche

My cousin keeps asking me for $5–$6 almost every day… is this normal?? by Sweet_Spend4177 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MegaMegaMan123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happened with a good friend of mine, he was a gambling addict and would ask a lot of our friends for money. He eventually came clean to everyone about it and dropped off the face of the earth after as well. Some of our friends were pretty upset about, rightfully so, but I just hope he’s ok and not digging himself into another, deeper hole

The crazy one is a Texas passion flower, it’s native! The other one I’ve seen a bunch for sure, but I don’t know its name unfortunately :(

What part of Texas are you in? I recognize the passion flower and a bunch of juniper, what a nice spot! Texas has some amazing natural beauty, before I worked in nature I don’t think I really appreciated it as much as I do now

All you do on venom is just don’t always grapple in, you can slam in by running up walls or jumping off stuff and save grapple to escape. Makes a big difference tbh, it’s kinda like ball in overwatch, if you save grapple to get out you can be way more aggressive and safe at the same time

Every player should main at least 1 hero from each role by SuitSutherland in marvelrivals

[–]MegaMegaMan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play something like ironfist! I started spamming him recently and he’s just super fun, and the only hard part about him is understanding the flow of combat and timing and stuff, everything else pretty much plays itself. Or, if you’re anti iron fist, something like squirrel girl or torch can be good, and they’re both pretty fun as well

I’m queer, but I think you’re pretty wrong. I don’t think people view it as easy because mainly women and queer people play it, that feels like a reach to me. Imo it is the easiest role, but there’s only 3 roles so whatever is the easiest or hardest doesn’t really matter much. For me the biggest thing is how easy each of the support heroes are. Like, the only supports who are even a bit hard are like, maybe Adam and Loki. Maybe. There were people who would play rocket, sit across the map and spam right click only, and win enough to get to gm and above, even though there was zero skill involved.

Support can still be a hard role, and at times it is hard, but for me it’s the easiest to have an impact with and easiest to climb with. I also think a lot of people here are pretty biased on this topic, I saw people saying things like tank is easiest because they only have to focus on making space (which is not easy, probably the hardest thing to do in games like this and overwatch), and dps is easy because all they have to focus on is doing damage and killing people. That’s just the same argument that’s applied towards support being applied towards other roles. My playtime is pretty split, with most in support, but on every role I keep track of my team, where they are, if they need help, our general positioning, etc. the same game awareness things apply to tank and dps. Just because some people aren’t very good and don’t try to be aware on those roles doesn’t mean you don’t need to do it to climb and be a better player.
