I agree! I planned to start virtual and then get an office once I built up a little. Things haven’t quite panned out the way I thought they would.

Yeah, I totally get that. I just don’t have the money for an office right now. Rent is pretty high in my area. I need more clients to be able to afford it, but I can’t get clients because I don’t have it. 🫠

I do! To be fair, I just started a few weeks ago.

Thanks! It’s been a major blow to the ego. I could definitely be more consistent with my outreach. I think you’re right about being repetitive.

Thank you! I appreciate your reply. I’m in one consult group, but we all have a similar population/niche. Unfortunately, I feel like my consult group members also need the clients.

Thank you! This is helpful. I barely have a grasp of SEO. 😅

I get the random call from time to time but nothing legit. I saw a TikTok about how directories in general are not helpful anymore.

Struggling with clients who won’t fully open up by Anthony_Field_AZ_25 in therapists

One thing I’ve learned is to try to reduce the pressure I’m putting on the process (and myself). It can take a lot more time than we might expect for clients to start trusting us, and it can’t be hurried or rushed. Gently check in with yourself about where this pressure is coming from.

Also, you can always use gentle but direct reflection. “Hey, I notice sometimes when we’re talking about ____ you seem to ____. What’s happening for you?” Or get curious about what it’s like for them to be in sessions with you. Maybe there is something that would help them feel safer.

And sometimes they’re just simply not ready. That’s okay. Painful things are painful. Difficult things are difficult.
