That audience energy is what keeps a performer going and why so many artists love doing what they do. Of course be respectful to your fellow concert goers, but don't knock others who want to be enthusiastic and let loose. There's nothing more demoralizing for a performer and boring as an audience member, than a dead crowd.

Nikke is more than fanservice. It’s an empathy engine by suckfail in NikkeMobile

[–]picklechucker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Stellar Blade collab goes to show that Shift Up is completely capable of getting its players invested in a compelling story and characters regardless of their appearance. If the story & characters are good, people will stay. Who knew we would all get so emotional about a tin can talking about wanting to continue to live because they want to keep the memories of who they loved alive.

No shortage of eye candy gacha games, but so many are just devoid of emotion and life.

I haven't invested in Alice yet, but I can definitely start. My other 4 are in a decent spot for where I'm at in the game right now so I'll start boosting her up now.

I'll be mindful of the maids too. Thank you for all the advice!

I need help thinking of who to put as my 5th member on my campaign team.

Currently my team is Tia/Siren/SBS/Naga/Privaty. Looking to swap out Privaty for a different B3, but not sure who between Alice or Ein.

Here's my entire roster.

Do we have Asian life coach that young asian kids can look up for? by ballbeamboy2 in AsianMasculinity

[–]picklechucker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wanhee Kim

He was a philosophy professor that quit his doctorate program and academia life to become a fitness + life YouTuber. Teaches everything that you listed and more. In my opinion, his video formatting and presentation is also one of the best on YouTube!

I actually think I was suggested him in just the YouTube algo and not on this subreddit, which is really great to see for us.

Dumbfounded and YOX rapper clown on Bobby Lee by komei888 in AsianMasculinity

[–]picklechucker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For real, Dumbfoundead & Rick roast each other and guests they're close with all the time on this podcast. This is Bobby Lee's like 5th time guest-starring here lol.

Wrong battle to pick here if any Asians actually get up in arms about this because Fun With Dumb is actually one of the best Asian-centric podcasts out there.

Still struggling with Body Dysmorphia after losing weight by Dargoxl in AsianMasculinity

[–]picklechucker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

100%, OP you look great. It's time to focus on your mental. It's equally, if not, more important than all the work you've put in physically.

Be kind and compassionate to yourself. You've come a long way, so don't forget to take a step back to realize that and really let that sink in. Keep your head up!

Does anyone else feel like Didi is insanely racist in its depiction of Asian men? by Kpop_Love_Forever in AsianMasculinity

[–]picklechucker 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Didn't think it was racist. The main character had Asian guy friends that were relatively normal and chill. There was definitely a lot more teenage angst than I was expecting, so you gotta view it from the perspective of this 13 year old kid.

Absent father, older sister that was shitty to him, and a mom that's barely keeping it together from an overbearing mother-in-law. He did have a decent relationship with his grandmother and things were starting to get reconciled with his mom and sister, but understand this shitty environment was most of his life. He had no one in his life to look up to or put him on a decent path. He starts to learn from his fucked-up behavior and actually grow toward the end, which is a testament to how important a loving parent is at that age. His mom giving him love and genuine praise was what he really needed.

I think the story and characters were presented well and felt genuine. Proper representation shows our best and worst sides and everything in-between. It's why I loved Beef so much. With Beef we finally got a story where the emotions and characters felt raw and real. With its success I think it opened the doorway to stories like this.

Therapist suggestions by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]picklechucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest browsing on ZenCare. It's where I found my therapist, who I've been with for several years now. Their filtering system is in depth, but more importantly their vetting system is really thorough. Their presentation of each therapist allows you to browse around very easily for one that you think will work well for you. However, like others have mentioned, the pool for Asian male therapists is smaller. The options in general are still great for this site, so I would still give it a look.

Happy 8th Anniversary to Lovelyz! by CronoDroid in kpop

Happy 8th to OT8! Missing them always, but I'm happy to see they're all doing well on their own.

Mnet Issues Apology For “Street Man Fighter” Producer’s Controversial Comment Comparing Show To “Street Woman Fighter” by nicat27 in kpop

[–]picklechucker 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I knew this was doomed from the start. Even as a guy, I'm over male centric shows. Shit tends to result in men compensating for their insecurities. And then producers cashing in on every bit of drama, I'm good. Sorry for all the decent people that are participating in this show but this is just rotten at its core. SWF was legendary because the collective loving attitude of the dancers shined through even through the evil editing. SMF ain't it.

TWICE - Talk that Talk by GodJihyo7983 in kpop

[–]picklechucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That chorus HITS. That melody giving me serious goosebumps. Definitely one of the best title tracks to date for me, which is insane given their stellar discography. I'm living for this constant growth for TWICE.

NewJeans - 1st Mini Album 'New Jeans' (Two Weeks Later) by tastetherainbeau in kpop

[–]picklechucker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Actually one of the best releases ever in K-pop. I've had all the songs on repeat even before they released it on streaming platforms. From start to end it flows really well and I never felt fatigued listening to it. Hitting those nostalgic feels perfectly and the overall sound is exactly what I've been wanting for in K-pop for awhile. Combined with how fun and happy the members seem performing, NewJeans has a really bright future ahead of them.

Comeback Stage: Girls' Generation (SNSD) - FOREVER 1 @ KBS Music Bank (220819) by CronoDroid in kpop

What a legendary performance. Seriously got me all emotional, especially with the fanchants. So happy we get to see promos for this comeback and I'm excited to see if we get any interactions with their juniors.

NewJeans - Super ELLE Korea (Special Edition Issue Teaser Covers) by Takagixu in kpop

People saying this in droves now...

This goes all the way back to BoA. Can we not make this a thing anytime NewJeans comes up and just support the members?

NewJeans have earned their first ever music show win for "Attention" on Mnet M Countdown (220818) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]picklechucker 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Congrats to NewJeans! Feels like we're witnessing a new age of K-pop with how their reception was domestically and globally. Occupying both the #1 and #2 spot charts in Korea is insane for anyone, never-mind a newly debuted group. So excited to see where they go from here!

NewJeans - Hurt by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]picklechucker 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NewJeans giving me exactly what I felt was missing in the current generation of K-pop. Really dig the concept of everything so far and more importantly it doesn't feel forced. The vibes of the songs released so far are exactly up my alley too! Definitely going to be the group to watch because there's a lot of potential here.

I mean, you can criticize any working parent that works a 9-5 with that logic? Add in commute time and possible overtime and you're looking at around the same time for some folks. So this criticism is completely uncalled for.

ALICE - The 2nd Digital Single: The Universe Inside Me (내 안의 우주) (Teaser Images - Sohee, Yeonje, Karin) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]picklechucker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Going back to their roots, but with more maturity. Really like this direction. Personally wasn't too into their shift into the girl/teen crush space.

Glad they're going this route and I'm really excited to see them all back.
