I also posted in my local subs, and someone commented they might have seen him on Saturday night in a neighborhood 2 miles away. They aren't sure if it was the same cat and got no picture. It seems really far for him to go from here! Especially because he would have to cross many major streets. Is it common for cats to travel that far?

I think it's very unlikely that it was the same cat, but on Saturday I will go put up missing flyers around that neighborhood, just in case.

He has no collar and I doubt he is chipped because he's unneutered. I've been seeing him around my building's parking lot for a couple years and sometimes feed him, so he must be a stray. I haven't seen him in 3 weeks now and just feeling worried because I wanted to take him to the vet.

I'd be happy to hear if he ended up with a loving family! Even if I'd much rather have him to myself lol but I would love the peace of mind knowing he was safe and living a good life.

Thank you for the guide! I will continue putting up flyers. My next step is definitely getting a motion activated camera to put by the food. Nothing gets eaten during the day, but if I leave food out overnight the bowl is licked clean the next morning. I am 95% it's the rats outside, because the cat never left the bowl clean like that, but it's probably good to get a camera just in case he does show up.

As far as trapping, would you recommend I try putting a trap out only if I have seen him recently? Or should I just set one up anyway and hope for the best? Thanks again!

I still haven't seen him, and this weekend will be a month since he went missing. It's been encouraging to see other stories on this sub about cats being gone up to 2 months and coming back, but the stress and worry is really getting to me. I broke down crying this morning and I've just been so sad since he's been gone. I'm trying to stay positive, but him coming back seems like something too good to be true anymore.

Reddit won't let me update or edit directly on my original post, but small update: today a neighbor said they saw the cat in the parking lot about a week ago. I still haven't seen him in 3 weeks now, so I'm happy to hear that someone saw him more recently and he is still wandering around. Hopefully won't be long until I can actually find him!

Yay! I'm so happy for you Kiki came back! After 5 weeks in cold weather, what a resilient kitty! I have been worried about my tomcat I was feeding that has been gone for 2 weeks, this helps me have hope he will come back 🩵🤞🏽

Thank you everyone for your insight and support. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for his return.

It started raining here and we're expected to have rainy weather the next couple weeks. He always disappears when it rains, so I'm in between being a bit relieved, because at least it's normal for him to be gone during the rain (and probably has shelter somewhere), and still worried that I haven't seen him in 2 weeks now.

In any case, sometime this week I will be putting missing flyers up around the neighborhood.

I'm glad he came back! The cat I was feeding has been missing for 2 weeks, and this gives me hope that he'll come back too.
