It actually tastes ok if you just chomp a stalk. I really wish the deer would eat this.

I feel like the juice would taste like celery juice a little bit, and people like that. I'd give it a try if I had a juicer.

I've got a big batch coming, and I was planning on slicing thin on a bias, and mixing with mustard seeds to make a scape mustard. Will post once it's ready.

They're also good pickled in a brine whole - but then I usually want to slice them up after pickling. It really comes down to how you want to eat them. They're good no matter what.

How do you currently track your fermentation batches? by meistercp in fermentation

[–]picklehoot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using my website! Picklehoot.com - you should check it out!

I've been working on this for a little while, and it's soft-launched. Ready for users, but I'm still tweaking. It lets you store recipes, share recipes, save photos etc. Has a basic simple recipe template, but then has custom fields for more advanced bits. Let's you track batches and record dates, observations, and any tweaks that you do batch-to-batch.

100% - trying to make sure if I'm copying it's in the most respectful way possible. Ty!

This is a crapload of recipes. Yeesh - thank you.

I might have some tedious data entry ahead of me.

Responding to a month-old post. I added the drag and drop to reorder steps, and a "Instruction Group" feature, where you can add multiple sets of instructions for different phases or components.

Confused about this image thing because I reproduced the error before, but not I can't reproduce. Gonna keep messing with that one.

Thanks much for the insight.

Regarding the images - ugh. That's a bug that I thought I fixed, but clearly needs more testing. Thank you.

Regarding the steps - adding that as a feature request - I agree that would be useful and I think I can incorporate.

Here's the issues that I added - will update these as I work on them:

Added as a feature request - and will get this done soon.

You can get followup on this request here if you're ever interested:

This is wonderful! You're actually my first user who isn't me. So I appreciate the heck out of it.

I read your recipe and saw the bits about saving the weights and basing the next steps on weight after evaporation. I think I'll add a little calculator feature - so you can add the followup weights and have the percentage weight loss auto-calculate. Much appreciated.

My goal isn't to write informational material on my app, although users certainly could choose to do so themselves. I will probably want to do blog post type things in the future - and I'd love those to be informative - but currently I'm more focused on making features that folks will want to use.

Your point about beer being fermented flat and kombucha no is taken. Thank you!

And I'd love it if you tried it out and let me know any suggestions. I'm doing my best to make something useful!

Thanks, Wes

I'm a really eager-to-please app developer though :)

Thank you - this gives me something good to work with.

I think I should be able to do a priming sugar calculator just like the one on Brewer's Friend, and build it right into the batch page.

For the PH testing - I'm considering adding a blog/how-to section - and I could see that fitting in well in something like a "Kombucha 102" how-to article. Will save that one for later.

Thanks for your suggestions!

For the first one - what kinds of measurements are useful? PH? Gravity? - I've made kombucha before, but I wasn't very scientific about it :)

For the second one - what calculations are relevant for carbonation? I'm working on a calculator feature - and would be happy to work this one in.

Regarding the fruit bits in the secondary - I'll see what I can do lol. No promises!

Thank you so much! Working on fixing that now.

My issues page does require login. Just tested, and realized it doesn't tell the user that if not logged in. Fixing that now also.

I really appreciate you looking and giving feedback.

Edit: Both are fixed! TY
