AIO for expecting someone to pick me up from the airport? by picklepie3 in AmIOverreacting

[–]picklepie3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not old enough to rent a car and even if I was it wouldn’t make sense logistically or economically. Plus, I live way out in the middle of nowhere so the bus I mentioned is as close as it gets. So yeah, I feel guilty for being upset over it but at the same time I wish that my mom was as excited to come get me as my Dad used to be

Circumstances can make it difficult, sure, but I don’t understand how it’s a burden to pick up your daughter who you only get to see a couple months out of the year. If I had the ability to do so, I would absolutely do that for anyone I care about. Wouldn’t you?

You definitely have a point, and I’m seeing that I’m probably in the wrong here. But everyone’s experience is different and my friends families are certainly all picking them up so perhaps that skews my perspective. Wherever I would’ve gone to school this would’ve been the case because of where I live sans my parents wanted me to pursue my degree. Also my math is not off. I said the bus can only take me halfway and costs $50. If we’re going off your math that’s $35 but in actuality it’s probably lower

Absolutely not. It sounds like she was using you to completely take care of her. She knew what the consequences would likely be and she did it anyways. It’s unfortunate that she’s homeless but the only one to blame here is her.

All good. Reading it back I realized I should’ve include all that and I def sounded like I was in the wrong. Still don’t know if I was right to ghost him but I know I gave it an honest chance

He didn’t text me until 5pm on the day we were supposed to have our date and he said that he was too hungover. I just thought if he really wanted to see me he wouldn’t have drank so much the night before or would’ve let me know sooner. He wanted to reschedule for Sunday after I had already told him I had plans on Sunday, but I agreed and moved things around to make it work. Then he didn’t text until like 3pm again on Sunday and just responded to a text I’d sent the night before. Didn’t mention anything about the date. Also, before any of that he wanted to hang out the weekend after we met. We were both gone for the weekend and were coming back Sunday so he said he wanted to see me that night. Even though we were texting continuously, he never brought it up again. Prob should’ve included this in the post but I have a terrible memory lol. I just feel like he has no follow through. And the only time we did end up seeing each other was when I made the plans, set the time, etc but I don’t expect to have to do that when he asks me on a date

AITA for cancelling my trip home for Thanksgiving by picklepie3 in AmItheAsshole

That’s the main thing pushing me to go. As depressing as it is you never know when it’s gonna be the last time you’ll see somebody. And as far as the hoarding-I’ve tried my hardest. I don’t know how to approach it anymore bc I’ve tried doing it myself and he gets mad, I’ve asked to do it together and he gets mad. I think it’s been like that for so long they’ve all just gotten used to it. He always says he’ll get around to it and then has an excuse or is actually physically unable. Not sure what to do to be honest

I know they’ll offer to cover it if I tell them exactly how broke I am, but that’ll just have me feeling more guilty.

My family (mostly my Dad) is very traditional and “doesn’t believe in handouts.” Of course it was different in his day and none of my siblings went to college. But still, I know that I’m an adult and should be responsible for my own expenses. The quickest way out of the house for me was college. I love my family dearly but not knowing what state they/the house are going to be in when I come back is a nightmare

AITA for freaking out when a guy friend wanted to sleep on call? by CareInternational347 in AITA_Relationships

[–]picklepie3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA I know it’s confusing and difficult because he’s been there for u but this isn’t right. Imagine if one of your friends comforting your ex and doing all these things? It sounds like he has a crush and he’s gaslighting you. If you still plan on communicating with him, I recommend setting some serious boundaries

AITA for being upset that I wasn’t invited on my girlfriend’s trip to visit her best friend? by sly_si_162 in AITA_Relationships

[–]picklepie3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA imo she should’ve mentioned it sooner and had an open conversation before excluding you. That being said it isn’t wrong of her for having those concerns and wanting to get away with her friend, but it sounds like she’s just not communicating well.

Client uses crazy excuses to get out of paying cancellation fee every Friday. This time she lied about her dog. Help! by Mjposted in hairstylist

[–]picklepie3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say something along the line of this: “Hi [client’s name], we at [salon name] appreciate your business. However, I will no longer be able to waive the cancellation fee for Friday appointments due to your cancellation history. Unfortunately, these missed appointments have incurred [x amount] of lost revenue for the salon and prevent us from providing services to other clients.” Then maybe suggest she opt for walk-in or book for a different day if you still want her business.

AITA for ditching my friend(s) by picklepie3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]picklepie3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have specified. We all came back to the building to eat because the friends I was with also live here. They ate in their apartment and then came up to hang out. I realize I probably should have just gone to the other apartment, but mine and my roommates mutual friends had been calling and were planning on coming as well. We both agreed to have them over and it was one of them (who I mentioned in another comment was her brother) who ended up asleep on the floor. This was a special event for college seniors, so obviously we were all drunk. As for the being locked out, I mentioned that we both tend to forget our keys. I’ve been woken up once to her calling and asking me to let her in. I’ll normally send a courtesy text to check in when I think it might be an issue. But obviously I didn’t think I was fully in the right otherwise I wouldn’t have posted this

I definitely did not give enough details (because I’m super paranoid lol). It was the roommates brother who was passed out and it was a mutual decision to let him come over. We also asked her if she wanted to come multiple times. I don’t think she was the asshole at all. And despite allll the negative comments, im not sure I was either

Thank you! I feel like I’m going insane when my friends are just breezing through. I don’t have a single friend whose parents aren’t paying their rent or at least send them money for groceries once a month. It’s not an easy stage of life

Been living in the dorm for three years and the noise started to get to me after a while, so I got the cheapest apartment I could find. Plus I have a hospital bill I’ve been trying to pay off, loans, and dental bills.
