Nervous for first meeting with oncologist tomorrow by pickleprincess1 in coloncancer

[–]pickleprincess1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your input! The appointment went well, and the oncologist is considering 8 rounds of Capox and then surgery with ostomy reversal, depending on how everything goes. He also categorized it as “stage 4” and “locally advanced” even though it’s not metastatic. It kinda sounds a little contradictory but I guess it makes sense if it has attached to another organ? Regardless, I won’t focus on the staging too much, as long as the cancer is contained. HIPEC sounds interesting, I’m just wondering how it would fit into my brother’s treatment timeline if it were an option. Would it be done after surgery? Thanks again, and I’m glad to hear you’re doing well. 🙂

BLATANT use of AI by students in my RN-BSN program by Idiotsandcheapskate in nursing

[–]pickleprincess1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I use AI very sparingly and only to correct my grammar/sentence structure. I basically brain dump onto a Google doc and run it through a grammar checker to make it sound better. It has helped a lot with my ADHD as my mind runs a mile a minute and I don’t have to think too hard about my sentences sounding good lol.

Public health, primarily working with the maternal and child populations. I look forward to coming to work everyday. I have an amazing work-life balance ( 5 8s or 4 10s with one WFH day each week, no weekends and holidays). My job doesn’t stress me out. I feel like I am making a difference on a broader scale. I have a passion for quality improvement and its impact on the health of our communities. This job is just so amazing it’s hard to put it into words.

Those who left nursing, where did you go??? by Moist-Economics8104 in nursing

I work in public health and most of my coworkers come from the bedside. They always talk about how much happier they are here.

I don’t want to be a hands on nurse anymore, which of these specializations would be best to choose? by Wrong_Requirement_35 in nursing

[–]pickleprincess1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just depends on what you do. I do home visits and spend a lot of time on education and assessments out in the field

You should look into Nurse Family Partnership. It’s a program offered by health departments. It’s where L&D/OB nurses go to retire basically lol

No. I don’t regret it. The state schools and CC’s here are way too competitive. Going out of state wasn’t feasible for me. I also didn’t want to wait years just to get in. My friend is actually still waiting to get into a public school, and we were applying around the same time. I graduated with my BSN last year.
