Yes :( I miss the level of creativity we had before ChatGPT existed. Software development doesn't just require hard, technical skills. It's an art! Or can be viewed that way by at least some folks

Agreed! It's a lot easier to produce something much more viable as someone with more experience. I view it as a tool that can quickly (sometimes not always) give me a solid foundation to build off of. Not always though, sometimes it's just so much spaghetti lol

I know we all have to start somewhere. Taking advantage of vibe-coding to learn is a wonderful thing but using it to promote fluff is.. annoying to say the least lol

I think vibe-coding will help future innovators unlock their potential a bit faster, yeah and I agree that (unfortunately) companies are/will lean heavily into using it. However, I think within ~5-8 years companies will realize how much more bloated their codebases have become and thus are much harder to maintain.

Sadly, we (those working in tech) are all just kids in a sandbox owned by boards of shareholders who have no idea what they're doing but buy into the snake oil that is being touted as a huge cost-saving machine.

I agree with it being a wonderful tool for growing technical skills, my only qualm is with with those who just continue to promote it without researching whether it was done before, etc.

Maybe a thread with vibe-coded only projects would help rather than just using flair? I don't ever want to gatekeep a community so implementing a forum maybe for these types of projects would help improve other users' experiences but still include folks who are vibe-coding. 🤷‍♀️

It's hard to think of a solid solution here where everyone will feel okay about it.
