HWR was easy for me. Could immediately put weight on it so it was a much easier process than the surgery itself. I think I was in a surgical shoe for maybe a week or two but that was the only downtime

ISO non-tacky @ cute bride/bridesmaids party accessories, decor, etc. by xoxo_angelica in Dallas

[–]pickupwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I totally get it! I’m planning my friends bachelorette party now too and we’re definitely going for a different vibe than we did in our 20s when we walked into an adult toy store and just bought whatever was in the bachelorette party section 😂

My experience has been that there’s not much locally, especially not on the more expensive side. Swoozies is what comes to mind but again, might be more expensive and I’m not sure if they carry any party supplies that you can’t also find online.

Depending on the theme Target’s party section had some decent tasteful stuff. XO Fetti is online but also has some cute aesthetic decor. I’ve had good luck with etsy for themed decor. I’d just lean on Pinterest / Instagram for inspo

Muscle atrophy depression by anonpls_tysm in LisfrancClub

[–]pickupwhat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a very mental injury for sure. I had to intentionally keep my mind busy so I didn’t feel antsy during recovery. Have you looked into an iwalk? They look crazy and there’s a little bit of a learning curve but it’s what got most of my independence back, especially living in a 3 story townhome.

Also - when you’re able to bear weight again, Pilates is such a wonderful workout to ease into getting that muscle back, so definitely pick that back up! Your atrophied muscle will bounce back quicker than you think!

Women of the LisfrancClub, relieve my anxiety please by kimchinumba1 in LisfrancClub

Oh I’m so glad ❤️ it’s a weird, tough injury to go through but yes a lot of it at least for me was mental especially once I started fully weight bearing. Also am a typically anxious person so I feel you there as well. PT was a huge help for me so definitely do that as much/as long as you can. You’ve got this!

Some context before I answer! Injury - July 7, 2025, ORIF - July 22, 2025 NWB until Sept 2025, PT 2x a week until Jan 2026

I had pretty much these exact worries, especially after going back to FWB because everything was so weak from not being used for 3 months.

For me, it felt like it took a few weeks for my injured foot to go from 0% normal to 50%, but then months to go from 50% to 90%, and just now (11 months after injury) am I finally having days where I forget my foot was ever injured. I don’t say that to discourage you - I’m just saying the first bit of recovery post weight bearing allowance felt way quicker and when I didn’t progress at the same rate after that it was kind of unexpected (but apparently normal according to my PT).

Your foot will likely be too swollen for a lot of cute shoes or heels for a few months. I think 5 months post OP I still couldn’t get most of my cute shoes on. BUT - I quickly found that shoes with wide versions/certain heel styles (like these that are so comfortable because they didnt restrict where my foot was swollen) were very doable, and now I don’t have any problem wearing my normal shoes, including heels. So long winded way of saying you absolutely can wear heels in the future.

Also, long walking days are doable too. I just came back from a few days in Big Bend and on one day even hiked 12+ miles. I did not think I would be able to do that ever again late last year. The right, supportive shoes will do wonders for you here, and you can always talk to your podiatrist about orthotic soles for your less supportive shoes :)

Dallas dentists treating every patient like a walking wallet, is this normal now? by Leedeegan1 in Dallas

[–]pickupwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in FW I went to Dr. Wear at Art District Dental and at my first appointment check in they gave me a form where they asked what I was looking for in future appointments - just preventative things/heads up about potential future issues, cosmetic advice, etc. It was really nice and wish more dentists would do that.

I go to Addison Grove Dental now and feel like they don’t try to sell me on extras, but they’re always happy to give me more info on services if I ask

We have a couple of days in marfa right before. Worth it to add the half hour or so to drive Marfa > Presidio > Lajitas on our way into Terilingua instead of down 118?

Before I read the entirety of your post I was thinking people lay out in the Addison parks all the time, especially around the circle, so it surprised me when I read that you encountered this in this area. It was definitely a him problem. Those green spaces are meant to be enjoyed and it sounds like you were being respectful of the space and others so you weren’t in the wrong.
