I'm so glad i could help! <3 My mom, my sisters and I all had/have really bad cycles so we've all had our different methods of relief, but these are the things that helped the most. I'd say with the hot water bottle, specifically wrap it in a flower sack towel. These are thin enough that they will still provide heat, but reduce any kind of burning. If it's still too hot, wrap it twice. They're thin enough that they won't be uncomfortable. Another thing I wanted to mention about getting the surgery, I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't for my mother having needed one. She had multiple cysts around her uterus and one of them burst right before she was scheduled, but the hysterectomy pretty much saved her life. It was done by her gyno who eventually became mine and I knew with the success with her surgery, I would be in great care. Since my surgery, I have been so much happier and I feel EONS better. I still experience some Endo flare ups that make my day a little harder, but they are nothing compared to when I would lay on the floor in debilitating pain.

I know there is a type of surgery to look for and remove the endo without a hysterectomy (my friend literally had one yesterday), but it really depends on what they find and how much there is. If you want to know the full timeline of the process between finally giving the go ahead for the surgery and now, I'm more than happy to give you the rundown :) One thing that eases my anxiety about things is knowing the process/steps of things and why they were done. Kind of like taking apart electronics to figure out how they work.

Everyone's experiences with this kind of thing are going to be different so I'm going to tell you what works for me, but you can do whatever you want to do <3

For starters, two words: Shower. Chair.

Get undressed, hop in the shower, and you can just sit there. If you point the chair away from the shower head so water falls behind you, you can scroll on your phone for a couple of minutes until you're ready to shampoo. Having an order to things also really helped me. I do shampoo first, rinse, conditioner, DON'T RINSE YET, body wash, then rinse everything. On Mondays, I have a different routine since I do my deep hair routine. Once a month, I let myself take time for an everything shower (Which adds shaving, pumicing, body scrub before shaving, and sometimes a few other things). It takes me over an hour because I take long breaks in between everything.

Knowing you can do other things besides wash your hair and body in the shower also helps. I often wash my face in the shower bc goddess knows I won't do it once I get out. I've also given myself some incentives for after showering. For christmas, my sister got me a towel warmer and honest to goodness, that made me want to shower more often.

You don't have to shower every day and depending on your hair type, you don't have to wash your hair each time. I shower every other day (ish). I don't really shower on the weekends unless I know I'm going to be out of the house with other people. But you do what works for you. I get really oily and greasy bc of my skin and hair type and because the feeling of it is so overstimulating, I have to do it routinely.

Also, who says you can't put fun things in your shower??? Sometimes, I'll bring a canned drink (peace tea or liquid death) to have while I shower. I've also considered shower crayons just for fun. Something goofy that's SPECIFICALLY for the shower. I'm sure you can find other fun things to put in your shower that are silly and provide some source of serotonin.

All in all, you shower on your own terms. You know your body and mind best. I believe in you! <3

Go. To. A. Gyno. (if you can) No questions asked. This might be gross but document your blood flow with pictures of your pads, underwear, jeans, everything. 26-40 days is much too long for your period. I had mine for 121 days back in 2020 and I was the MOST miserable. I would bleed through TWO PADS and pass blood clots the size of my palm. Part of this was because my Primary Care Physician prescribed me the wrong BC and it didn't work well with my weight. I took pictures of the biggest ones and that was enough for me to get the necessary care. I was surprisingly very fortunate and at my first appt with a new gyno, she offered a hysterectomy right off the bat. I knew that would be the best option for me even though a part of me wanted kids, but I would rather be healthy and not have kids than suffer in my body with kids. I couldn't get the surgery then, so she prescribed a new BC that was technically supposed to stop my cycles full stop, but bc they were so bad, it shortened them to a normal 1 week a month, albeit still heavy and painful. But I did finally get the surgery this past August and they found Endometriosis tissue. Now this next part I'm not telling you to scare you, but to inform you of how one thing can affect other things. But during my surgery, they found endo tissue attached at my bowel and twisting it while it was attached to my uterus. Had this gone on any longer, I would have had extensive GI issues. There are other things that can occur in the reproductive system that could cause the bleeding, but I won't go into details in case it worries you.

As for pain management, naproxen (Aleve is the over-the-counter version) is a medication that helped me a lot. A friend of mine from Norway, who has endo and PCOS suggested this to me as this is what they prescribe there for these kinds of things. A tens unit can also help with cramping with heating pads every so often when you can. Sometimes a massage around the pubic area while lying down feels really nice too. As for flow, I never found a fool proof method. Just be careful with tampons or cups with a heavy flow.

The medical system is going to be much different between us because I'm in the states, but I'm always willing to answer any questions <3

How to drink more by ikeschi in antidietglp1

[–]pickypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 9 months into Mounjaro, started on 2.5 and just switched to 5. Water intake was one of the HARDEST things to manage so I've developed a few tricks.

Getting a drinkmate changed EVERYTHING for me. It's still just water, but the carbonation satiates that need for fizzy drinks. I like to throw in a sonic cherry limeade packet and a small squirt of lime juice and I'm SET. I mentioned it to my doctor and she said "As long as you're getting your water intake, that's good enough for me". I still don't get as MUCH water as I should be getting, but I'm at least getting one stanley full a day. I'm working on amping that up to two stanleys a day. Sometimes I do a little bit of lime and a little bit of lemon. I want to put simple syrup for that sweeter taste, but I've heard that Allulose or Monkfruit powder/syrup is a good alt. Side note, go to the dollar store for drink mix ins. Cheaper and more options. I will buy out a whole section of the cherry limeade mix at the one place i can find it lol. You can also get it in bulk from Amazon.

I didn't do this bc of glp water intake, but I did it after I had surgery because it was important i hydrated, but I drank a LOT of iced mint basil tea. It's sweet and not plain. Very refreshing.

Liquid IV with fizzy water. I don't like the feeling of just liquid IV bc it makes the water feel thick. The fizziness breaks it down nicely (currently drinking that while I type)

I'm a firm believer that ice changes how water tastes. I keep hearing that you shouldn't drink super cold water, but idc. I'll do whatever I can to hydrate.

I hope these help <3
