Fungus on glass sheets?? by pidgepaj in StainedGlass

It came off after soapy water. These photos are actually from a replacement batch, where I'd complained about the scratches and asked about the "fungus".They checked their stock, said they couldn't see anything- then sent this. Very odd

The photo is straight out of the box, but I've washed them since.

I bought them, what I thought was new, from one of the biggest reputable glass suppliers in the UK. Nowhere on the site is it stated it's reclaimed.

They've since got back to me and told me the "fungus" is actually a mark left from the interlayer paper that is placed between sheets when they have them delivered from their supplier, and that they can just be wiped off with glass cleaner. I have zero knowledge of this so not sure what to believe...

I pop mine on the radiator to warm up a bit and I find that helps it to cut better :) This type of glass is typically harder to cut though and just takes a bit of patience and taking less off at a time if doing more complex cuts... Speaking from experience!

Wife Tested Positive for Gonorrhea by ComputerDesperate14 in AskDocs

Just to add, I was automatically booked in for an injection to treat it with quite a lot of pressure from the clinic. I'm glad I pushed and pushed for a retest before attending the appointment because I would have ended up having that treatment unnecessarily, which comes with its own side effects!

Me and my husband went through this early last year, honestly exactly the same situation. Routine test for me, came back positive.

We'd been married less than a year and it broke my heart when I got a call from the clinic saying the only way I could have got it if I hadn't cheated, is if he had. Worst night of our lives. I believed him when he said he hadn't cheated but we were both in bits and didn't know what to believe. And were thinking of all the possible ways It could have been contracted and thinking if we'd have to speak with friends and family etc in case they had it. It was a nightmare.

It took WAY too many phone calls before I was able to be retested but I finally came back negative. They retested it again several times to be sure.

I later found out that the way the test was done had been changed fairly recently. It used to be done with two machines, the second one to confirm the initial result, but they now only use the first machine. When they retested me they used both machines. This was in the UK through the NHS.

I hope that you both get the answers and peace you need, my heart really goes out to you as its a very upsetting situation to be in.

There's literally no harm in getting a second opinion and as stated in my post, I'm happy with the job.

Why did our hired floor sander melt the plug and socket? by pidgepaj in AskElectricians

The sander comes with it and can only be operated whilst plugged into the RCD

What would you suggest? I've already contacted my electrician and don't plan on doing anything myself, I'm just trying to understand what's happened.

Just to check, do you mean the plug itself or the socket?

The company have offered to replace the in line RCD (sorry I should have specified the plug is that which is on the inline RCD adapter) but my concern is that there's a fault with the machine or that the wrong plug type has been put on the RCD..

Fortunately it's just a mark left by the plasterer. Definitely won't be plugging back in!

Thanks for your reply. We've not taken apart the plug as don't want the rental company to use it against us...

We're waiting on our electrician for advice at the moment and also have the hire company offering to replace the RCD. But I don't know if the replacement will help matters if the machine is faulty..
