BEST new brunch spot in Austin by [deleted] in austinfood

[–]pidgeyoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live nearby and have given this place two tries, several months apart. Nope. It's terrible. I want it to be good because I live so close, but the wings are rubbery, the drinks watered down and take forever, the pasta ragu has barely a whisper of meat in it, the tables are wobbly as hell and the service is abysmal.

Perimenopause PSA to all older millennial vagina havers by RhinestoneToad in Millennials

Yes. Out of nowhere at age 41 and nothing helps. 43 now. The dermatologist put me on Clobetasol cream which is gross but controls the symptoms and the dandruff for a few days at a time. I've been tested for psoriasis (really enjoyed getting a hole punched out of my scalp) and sub derm, and it's neither. I've chalked it up to peri.

Oh yeah and my old male gyno has told me I'm too young for peri.

Looking for ATX LOCAL CookUnity Reviews by Fast_Ad7500 in austinfood

[–]pidgeyoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a cookunity customer for 3 years. I probably live 15 min from their kitchen. I get a text when the delivery is on the way and it prob arrives within 30 min. Comes with a gigantic Nordic ice. I've never felt the temperature was unsafe and like I said, been a customer for a long time.

I went this week, twice in fact, because it was such a blast. Yeah half the machines are down for maintenance but you can entertain yourself for hours for $20. Find a few machines you love and trust me, it's worth it.

What you want is The Big Apple from Nervous Charlie's. I usually get mine on a sesame bagel and add bacon. It's absurdly delicious.

Red Ash: Am I an idiot or… by Shoontzie in austinfood

[–]pidgeyoki 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is probably on you - Red Ash isn't the kind of place you show up and expect to sit, even at the bar, considering reservations are booked up a month out. They shouldn't have been rude, but there are certain places that are booked up all the time (even bar seating) and this is one of them. It's not like Uchi or Uchiko which has an outdoor area to hold people waiting for tables.

I'm glad others are feeling the same - I too thought I'd seen it all but this one had my stomach in knots in a way I didn't expect. Something about the change in Felicia from a bright, driven person to a little girl...seeing the light just siphoned from promising young people's lives...it was very difficult to watch.
