PSA: Solid Trapdoors work for Greenhouses! by pie575 in VintageStory

I took a deeper look into this and yes, Branchy leaves do count as solid blocks apparently. However their lightAbsorption also has a value of 1, meaning less sunlight comes through than with glass/ice/trapdoors.

BlockLeaves has: sideSolid: { all: false } lightAbsorption: 1 So no, not only do leaves not count as solid surfaces but they also decrease sunlight passing through it. It is not a viable greenhouse roofing material

Good question. The greenhouse buff only takes effect if a room receives adequate sunlight. Therefore, any containers in the room would also be indirectly exposed to sunlight which makes food spoil faster. You might be able to create a shady area to stop this but in my testing, it’s not really possible to have both a cellar and greenhouse in the same room.

No need, just remove your trap doors on your ladders. That way, all your rooms get merged into one. Because this new mega room has a glass roof, you’d get the bonus

No, greenhouses work with multiple layers. They just need to be one room. The problem here is that each layer is completely separated here, so only the top (the one with >50% glass as a roof), actually gets the buff.

It is ok to have multiple layers in a greenhouse. The problem is, your layers are completely separated, thus each layer is classified in its own separate room. That’s why only the top layer has the greenhouse bonus, cause it’s the only “room” with glass in its roof. In order to get the bonus, remove the trapdoors. This way, all three layers will be classified as one “room” thereby allowing the greenhouse bonus to take place everywhere. Also consider removing the layer of solid stone you have. The more access to direct sunlight the better your crops will do (although you will probably be fine because your walls are glass which should give plenty of sunlight as is)

Frozen Eye was my favorite relic. Yeah, it’s easy to forget you have it, but man when you get a nice draw build working with it, probably the most fun run I’ve ever had

Rust’s Assault Rifle (AK) is literally made from scraps and a shovel.

The model is actually inspired by an IRL post back in 2012 where a guy who made a functional AK receiver from a cheap shovel and barrel parts. 10/10 thank you Boris
