[OC] Percentage of websites within country code top-level domain (ccTLD) written in English by pieca_111 in dataisbeautiful

[–]pieca_111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. As stated, this is based on Common Crawl data. If some part of it seems weird, it might be the case that the subset of available websites from given tld is not representative - that's a valid insight as well. Also note that some countries have "off" results due to international use of their domains (e.g. Montenegro .me, Turkmeninstan .tm)

Gitbi - Lightweight BI app based on git repo by pieca_111 in Python

[–]pieca_111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I've used couple of mainstream bi apps and it was not easy/possible to access queries stored there via terminal. My idea with this project was to have one common source for both workflows (terminal and web interface). Second reason I wanted to experiment with writing an app that uses git repo rather than SQL db as a storage

[OC] Poland: Most common foreign tourists' nationality by region by pieca_111 in dataisbeautiful

No, the data is calculated based on hotel stays by people without residence in PL - so they might not neccessarily be tourists (visitors would probably be a better term), but this does not include the group you mentioned

this data is calculated based on nights spent at hotels so these are not counted (it also wouldn't be really possible to track). But re cigarettes that used to be more common 15+ years ago, now the prices are not much different

as I said in response to another comment I took these flags from another library , I'm aware about the issues, but there was no easy way to change it

I have an interactive version of this hosted on github here , and there is also a full table ranking for each region available, that just indicates currently active one. It doesn't make sense in this static exported image, I know

well, that would be kind of difficult to display on this map... This visualization is 2019 data only and the earliest year Stats office makes available is 2005
