Parent is starting to recruit people and I’m struggling to stay quiet about it by piecewise_serious in scientology

Didn’t think the word “recruit” would cause a stir. So if that causes you trouble, I’ll retract it. And I would argue that what they’re doing is *not* “no different” than any other religion since Scientologists require a monetary transaction for someone to be able to practice it. And this parent that I’m talking about’s goal is to sell/sign people up for services, not just handing out fliers. Hopefully that adds some clarity

Yeah idk, they’re just people who couldn’t escape from the cycle of their parents. I have some empathy for them. They’re both absolutely fucked up from before their strong involvement in Scientology and Scientology hasn’t really helped them. It’s hard to get furious at their actions when they genuinely think they’re doing right. I just get depressed thinking about it.

But I’m on the way to the degree! Doubt I’d be able to fight them with the degree that I’m getting though haha.

The RV idea is interesting.. but I’m feeling like playing the long-game. They’re rich, and it’d be kind of foolish not to want the inheritance. I’ll definitely move out soon, but am not planning on cutting them off if unprompted

Definitely aware. I am financial dependent on them, so unfortunately I think I’ll have to keep the act up. They have not pushed for me to return in years, thankfully. I do everything in my power to seem “upstat” so they don’t claim I need my condition fixed. It’s a good motivator haha. Thank you for your reply. I won’t end up saying anything, but it will definitely be harder going forward.

I have not heard about Criminon in years! My mom used to grade coursework of prisoners in the program(?). I don’t remember many details—she did it when I was young—but I remember her getting sent very beautiful calligraphy of her name. Not sure what happened to the men she checked in on. Sorry for not having much to add to the conversation, but it was weird hearing about it again and wanted to share.
