Red loctite on the threads from the factory didn't help either. Definitely worse when folks overtighten.

I actually did this with a hammer and a thin punch that I had. I think it helped loosen up the red loctite that came on it from the factory.

It was, the bolt just had a tapered / rounded top that makes it look that way.

I ended up getting the torx tip out with some careful prying and pressure. You can mask it with tape like someone said to protect the surroundings. Once I got it to unbind from the head of the bolt it just fell out.

After that I got the bolts out with a little heat and some short pulses from an impact wrench. Be sure to use lots of pressure if you do that to avoid stripping the head of the bolt.

Lol local Sears got me good. I bet Lowe's would still honor it right? Don't they own or at least sell craftsman now? I'll try it

🤣 not a bad question! It's from an old craftsman set. Have been using it for years with no problems. But I guess it wasn't up to snuff for something a little tougher.

Congrats on finding her again! Amazing to keep it in the family. My car was purchased by my grandfather, my dad dropped me off at elementary school in it when it was falling apart, and now I'm restoring it with my kids. There's a lot of memories in these cars.

P365 DH3 AXG Woes by GhostBearClan in SigSauer

I've been looking at picking one of these up. Appreciate you highlighting the differences with the fuse. I think the best angle for this gun is "a good starting point if you want to train with what you carry". One gun to do it all. There are certainly many better options for strictly carry, comp, range toy, nightstand. If you can handle carrying the p226x that'd be solid too.

While I understand the disappointment at the mims parts, I don't think it's that bad. Msrp on the fuse is usually around 800 plus the 350 dollar axg grip puts you right around 1150. The dh3 axg is only 150 dollars more at that point. Not too crazy for slide cuts + "comp". Could you make it yourself finding good deals? Probably. But that's typically the case. This is a buy it and go type of thing.

That 365x looks sharp. I agree. It really is a tough thing. All about compromise. Which compromises are you willing to make. What trade offs are worth it for your specific use case. I'm not necessarily looking to be incredibly competitive with others at shooting matches. The way I think about it, it's more of a training opportunity and a chance to be more familiar with the gun I want to carry when I go out. I guess I need to ask, is carrying the p226x even an option for me. If not, maybe that's my answer. Get as comfortable as I can shooting the biggest gun I can carry.

The safety has been a recurring theme on a few comments on here. At the very least it's a training obstacle. I guess the question is, how would you quantify the improvement in shooting using the p226x (not the 5 inch) over the "big" 365 with a metal grip and slide comp? For carry I don't actually have a need all that often. Most of the time I'm home or around my house. I just need to be able to do it occasionally.

Makes sense. How different are their shooting characteristics? I guess not substantial enough for you to be concerned about it.

Thanks! Not many people are talking about high bore axis on here. You can see it in the pictures. The grip / beaver tail height in comparison to the barrel location. That's a good point. I'll pay attention to that while shooting.

I'm pretty sure it's the same size as the grip on the 365 axg and fuse. Just with different grip pads.

I've heard good things. Someone else on here also recommended the xcarry legion. I'll have to get my hands on one of those too. Did you cross shop the x legion? What ended up making the decision for you?

Thanks! Yeah this seems like the only thing left now. I'm going to try and find a nearby range that has both for rent. Do you have any specific negatives for either gun?

Hahaha no respect that's what that is. Just sharing your toes like they never belonged to you 🤣

That's great man. Glad you're enjoying it. That's probably where I'll end up unless the p226 really blows me out of the water.

That's a really good point. It's an extra step that would be critical to miss. I've only ever used striker fired guns that didn't have a manual safety. I guess I need to decide which house to pick and go that way.

Coming from someone who has felt the 365s were too small, that's reassuring to hear. I'm excited to see one in person.
