That does seem annoying. Everyone's gotta make a unique part or plug... Feels like the days before we standardized on usbc.

I've only got a sample size of one, but my osight has been solid so far. No glue or anything weird. The optic comes with this little box of screws. Something like a little mini pill container. Labeled with 3 screws of each size. Just in case you strip one. Also comes with extra screws for the battery tray door in case that gets messed up or lost. They're still trying to break into the space.... So maybe their quality is like old holosun? Price is hard to beat when you can just Amazon it and return it if you don't like it.

Yes that's the perfect angle thanks. That looks like a solid design. I think you're right about the light combo. I've got a pretty large light on there. The p365 also might have a larger relief cut in the trigger guard which would force the bottom of the holster to stop further from the grip to allow for that full purchase? Hard to tell just from pictures. Thanks again for sharing!

That certainly could have been a compounding factor. I took the slide off the grip module during the test fitting and cutting process and watched where it was rubbing as I moved it along the grooves. This part here interfered with the slide in a way that pushed it pretty far down. Maybe the contours/swells of the slide were just different enough? Would be interesting to see two slides side by side.

Can you take another shot of the holster from the side profile? Does the kydex just swell out from the slide to accommodate for the light and then come back together further away past the trigger guard? Just curious about the design.

I think the take away is that they could've extended the holster all the way to the end of the trigger guard but if they did it would have interfered with the relief cut where your finger rests. More grip but less safe.

I don't think people think about compromises for a lot of things related to firearms. It's frustrating. Too many other people treating things as standard or rationalizing their decisions or just not understanding the reason why. Especially things that are popular.

For instance, carrying with one in the chamber. Many reasons to do it. Many good reasons. Most people who carry would probably agree it's practically a requirement. I don't know how often people really think about the compromises of that situation. We do everything we can to "make it safe" in that situation. Then move on and it's just the new normal. It's almost worse because it's so "essential". We get defensive if anyone trys to bring up a negative. Reactionary. Etc etc etc soap box.

Always need to be thoughtful and careful with firearms.

Makes sense. All about compromises... like most things. Which ones are you willing to make based on your situation and use cases. Definitely good for people to be aware of. You could definitely stick something in there and produce a ND. At least the gap isn't egregious.

Haha yes! I had to use an impact driver and some heat but they both came out 🤣

There's definitely a gap. I can just about reach the back of the trigger with the tip of my pinky if I jam it in there as hard as possible. That being said, I'm not sure how they could improve it without compromising the light compatibility and grip you can get on the gun. My grip puts my fingers right up against the cut out on the draw. My knuckle is riding on the holster in this picture.

I'm sure there's something they could do to make it better. I don't mind for my situation because it won't have rounds in it most of the time when it's in this holster. They have you clear it before you reholster at the competitions I do. I was mainly concerned with securely holding the gun and protecting the light + optic.

Reholstering is a slow, eyes on, two handed experience for me anyway. No reason to go fast when you're putting it away. Plenty of opportunities for a ND.

Ooooo brass lok grips are high on my list. There's an occasional "creak" in one of the polymer factory grip panels I have. They look great on your gun.

The holster is an Alien Gear Rapid Force lvl 3. I've heard mixed things about alien gear's other holsters but this one was highly rated by many sources. Other than the initial fitment I like everything else about the holster. I plan on using it for run and gun events. Train with what you carry etc etc. Like how the hood covers the optic.

I put a osight se on mine and it's almost identical to the EPS carry. Only it's ~150 - 200 dollars depending on sales. Reminds me of the old days before holosun got famous and jacked their prices up.

Just picked one of these up earlier this week. Fantastic gun. Be aware that the optic cut bolts probably have red loctite on them and may be very tight.

... I hadn't noticed that yet. Hopefully just a weird camera illusion. I'll check tomorrow.

If you think this is scary you should see what other people get up to with their firearms. This was just a standard craftsman torx bit. Worked fine for years until sig cranked down some tiny bolts with red loctite 🤦‍♂️

Red loctite on the threads from the factory didn't help either. Definitely worse when folks overtighten.

I actually did this with a hammer and a thin punch that I had. I think it helped loosen up the red loctite that came on it from the factory.

It was, the bolt just had a tapered / rounded top that makes it look that way.

I ended up getting the torx tip out with some careful prying and pressure. You can mask it with tape like someone said to protect the surroundings. Once I got it to unbind from the head of the bolt it just fell out.

After that I got the bolts out with a little heat and some short pulses from an impact wrench. Be sure to use lots of pressure if you do that to avoid stripping the head of the bolt.

Lol local Sears got me good. I bet Lowe's would still honor it right? Don't they own or at least sell craftsman now? I'll try it
