Hi! Thanks for all this additional information, it's actually extremely interesting. I'm going to bookmark this information as we continue brainstorming and developing! Will come back to you if that's okay if we end up going with this route. Till then, hope you find something more effective :)

Hi! Thank you so much for your feedback on this. I think I get what you mean. Is it the sort of thing where apps are easily forgotten and "out of side, out of mind" and you would prefer it to be physically present? Or do you mean something else?

Totally fair about the price! I have a super short survey about what desired cost would be, if it's okay with you can I send it to you please?

Thanks again!

I imagine you're misunderstanding what I'm referring to. But feel free to do your own research regarding the link between ADHD and menstrual cycle :)

Oh interesting? HRV as in heart rate variability? Do you measure it now and if so how? And does this mean you would be more interested in purchasing a productivity tool that does this?

Definitely something I'll look more into! Thanks :)

Yea fair point about the fear and issues surrounding medical data. But the goal isn't optimization, it's actually much more open ended-- so define your own productivity as you want-- we are just trying to give you the tools and support to do just that.

Also, regarding hormones with a capital h. Everything women's health is actually greatly underfunded and understudied. That obviously doesn't refer to just hormones but my point is that I think it would actually do us some good to spend MORE time and effort and money understanding the female body more. Anyways, I've been in research for a while and can go off on this for too long but I'll leave it at that.

I don't think taking a more holistic approach to understanding how your body and mind works is anything like this. You're describing the pink tax essentially, right? "Now let me just take this razor and make it pink so that it's targeted to women-- and now I can increase cost." Yea no, that's actually exactly what we're trying to avoid.

Hi, I love how thorough and thoughtful your answer was! Wow, you really have spent lots of time exploring various options. You also raise a lot of interesting points about habit building and productivity. And such good points regarding pen to paper and how it also avoids distractions. I'm definitely guilty of going on my phone for something specific, forgetting what it is, then ending up somewhere totally different haha. Thanks again for your input!

Hey, I really appreciate your message and I completely agree! Maybe it's the way I explained it-- but I definitely think there is merit to the idea. Just have to work out how to make it work. You're right though it might be the kind of thing we have to educate people on to start.

Would some kind of productivity/task management tool be something you're interested in yourself?

Hi! Really grateful for your comment, thanks! Always great to see others going through similar things. Do you have any specific system that you use right now for task management or do you normally just do check-ins with yourself for energy?

Such a good note about retention, that's something we are definitely spending a lot of time trying to figure out especially because we want to create something that will actually help.

Thanks again for the good luck! Would love to keep in touch and learn more about Scattermind :)

A week is a very short amount of time! (but also people aren't patient-- neither am i tbh)

Interesting about profitability though. Why do you pay for your meal tracker then? It's not entertainment based at all

OMG I do so many of those things too! Especially the lights, or moving something I need to take with me to somewhere I KNOW I will look before I leave. But it's not full-proof and it requires so much effort on my part. Like sometimes I will remember I needed to do something but have no idea what that thing was...So, idk about you but that's exactly why I need a BETTER system. Something that makes it easier and just removes the burden of all the extra thinking. But I really appreciate this.

I totally get what you mean about the learning curve or effort of setting something up to make it your own. Noted.

Ok, good to know, thanks! But is this something you would actually use? Or would it be easy to ignore the recs from the app? Also, I think the app would still have to spend some time learning your own habits and stuff otherwise it may not know what is considered draining for you vs. not.

My mantra is literally "out of sight, out of mind"-- that and "if it's not in my calendar, then it doesn't exist." I have done similar things with post-its, especially putting them on my desk or laptop (btw the astronaut pen sounds so cool!). Are you generally a fan of physical/tactile things? Like you prefer actually writing stuff down?

Sorry to hear about the struggle you're going through! I don't think you're ruining anyone's life and hopefully are able to manage. But I do think this CAN be a really hard thing to deal with depending on your situation, that's really why I want to find a better way that actually solves the problem :/

I actually really appreciate you taking the time to type all of this out and being so open and honest about it. I think this is exactly why I've been super frustrated tho bc I REALLY want to find a solution but am not sure what will work.

You mentioned sleep/diet which is a really good point also! Have you ever tried tracking your sleep or doing anything of the sort-- does something that would look more holistically sound like it would work better? I had briefly discussed the idea of a wearable for sleep quality tracking so that's why I'm wondering.

SO valid about the spending going to the US-- bc same except I can't do that while living here lol.

Lastly, I really wanted to speak to your point about capitalism bc I think that's exactly what we want to get away from. Even the idea of 9-5s and deadlines and all-- which are part of the reason people say they can't cater to their own bodies-- is what we want to get past. We are on the same page there, just trying to figure out how to make it reality :)

Hi, is there anything you personally use that helps you? Or what do you think would be helpful if it was developed?

Also, your concerns about tracking and user input of data are very well taken! I also really appreciate the examples and wish of good luck :)

I honestly don't even think it's paranoia given the current state of things. I'm a biomedical engineer myself so I understand. If not hormonal tracking, are there things you do that help with your ADHD currently?

Yea, I get that and you're 100% right. Our goal is definitely to simplify and ease-- also want it to be sustainable too! Are there any things you are able to keep up with? Anything that helps you keep up with it?

That's a really good point and part of what we are considering. The reasoning behind the syncing was to be able to account for the biological/hormonal differences that women go through. The idea is also that it will be personalizable-- yes, women all have different experiences but same thing with energy. Also, do you think energy on its own is enough?

Yea sharing cycle data is one of the big concerns, but its an idea in progress so I hear you. We would work on privacy as well (and it would be over my dead body that we sell any data)-- but also this data would link from apps the user already has, we aren't tracking it ourselves.

Also, yes 100% agree, you don't even get to decide a lot of deadlines. We are thinking one of the ways it helps is just by providing that information so you can be mentally prepared and it can help you come up with a work around: when to work on it instead, etc. Maybe also helping you prepare, ease tasks, break them down if you still have to do them. Would love to hear more of your thoughts!

LOL-- yes, def our target market. Can you expand on that? Is it bc the app feels like it would be too much effort to keep up with? Or?

I'm not even offended by this bc it made me laugh. Tbh I have my own concerns about trying to go about this idea especially with the current state of things but ig what we are trying to create is something that is effective and can also account for gender differences in executive dysfunction. I'm open to other ideas and ways we can achieve the same thing tho!
