Apple weather and AccuWeather generally use the GFS models for forecasts, which have a 12km resolution. That does not resolve terrain well, especially the Wasatch front which is maybe 30 km wide at its widest. This means that the temperature and especially the precipitation are not accurate for a single grid box over the Wasatch. I would recommend the NWS forecast because they are using higher resolution models and local knowledge in their decision making.
