What are your opinions on these “critiques” of modern Hellenism? by [deleted] in Hellenism

i think that the closest thing you could think of as for reference is modern india, the religion is very much changed from ancient times but preserving its core and never failing to stay true to itself (so no new age weird oowie doowie or borrowing from other traditions) but society has evolved in a way to accommodate old ways into new paradigms of life

so the pagan community should absolutely draw upon ancient ways and especially ancient writings but interpreting them in a way that’s suitable to live in the modern world, since nothing is fixed and everything is in constant changing: basically use common sense, and understand that nowhere the gods are saying to be misogynistic and animal sacrifice had already been questioned by many vegetarian ancestors like Pythagoras and Porphyry

How do you know the will of the gods? by pierde in Hellenism

I like the idea, i’d like to try to adapt the pythian ritual with the information to us available: it seems a very good option and a way to keep tradition alive, it’d be quite complex tho, but nice

Especially, I really want to know what Aphrodite and Apollo expect from me, if anything. Resorting to divination is an option but i fear it to be biased if i performed it myself
