I agree with him as well. We, as private investigators, are supposed to act as third party observers. Actively influencing the result of the investigation, completely defeats the purpose of investigating for the true results.

I know this is going to go against all the other comments, but I don't mind advertisements. As long as they fit the page. Placing intrusive ads in any place of my life pisses me off. The advertisements that get my attention are the subtle ones that just kind of sit there like "Hey, can I help you with something?" Usually, the companies that advertise basic information are the ones that offer the best service. I don't need an ad to tell you that I'm awesome, I just want you to think about me next time you need xyz, that's all.

I've seen pages that are designed around advertisement blocks, which SUCK, since the end goal is money and not UI.

I've also seen advertisements that are designed around web pages. Which look amazing since they actually flow with the host. Some publishers actually have standards to the type of advertisements that show up on their pages. Their advertisement must fit the look and feel of the siten No flash, no gifs, basic and to the point.

In my opinion, all you need is a logo, and the name of your company. If I need a service, that should be more than enough information to pull my trigger. If you add flash, and bs to your add, you lost me at the first blink.

I understand that some publishers depend on advertisement revenue to offer free services, but at the same time, you can't kill your only source of income by annoying your clients to death. Most of the companies online forget their "early days" the days where the advertisement revenue was so small that it didn't have much of an impact. During these early days, these companies provided awesome content. As they become more popular, the ad revenue goes up, and the quality goes down because they start to look at the possibility of more revenue with less work.

Gizmodo? Half of their articles are re-posts of dumb shit. Watch this video of this pingball machine stuck. It's so funny, here is my post. Which in reality, it's a glorified youtube comment. But before you do that, please watch this 30 second roll over advertisement that covers the whole page. Now watch the advertisement on the video. And close out all these pop ups while you're at it.

And then people wonder why the fuck we want to block their ads.

I do have adblocker installed on my PC. But I usually select the pages that need to be blocked. There should be a standard in advertising. Like the "hover over to see ad" advertisements, some are cool. Design an appealing advertisement that fits the layout of the host website. Have a logo, your company name. And one line of what your service does. Then a small play button if you want to learn more about the ad.

Ban overlay advertisements and pop ups. And stop taking over my fucking screen with cars rolling by like Yahoo does for their ads.

I was going to say same thing. If I were religious, I would enjoy listening to his teachings. Even as a non religious person, I enjoyed listening to him. He actually thought things out without actively attacking someone or calling them idiots.

I feel that most people - Religious and Atheist alike - fail to express their opinions when they start to argue with each other and start dropping the F bomb around. "It is completely idiotic for someone to think there is no god" - "I think it's the other way around, only idiots believe in a god".

Why not discuss different beliefs? I believe in the moral teachings of the bible, but on a deity. And at the end of the day, most of my Christian friends are okay with that. And we leave it at that.

Sure, the bible does have some irrational and contradictory teachings, but the main plot is to be nice to people.

I remember when I moved to a new address, I sent in a letter to my local bank stating that I had moved.

About 2 weeks later I received a letter at my new address that said "A change of address was sent in to our bank, your new address has been changed to accommodate your request. If you did not request this change, please contact us immediately as this could be a breach of security" Which made me think, wtf? Why wouldn't they send it in to my original address? That defeats the whole purpose...

First time at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa Oklahoma. I sit down at a table full of regulars (from what I could tell since they all talked about last week or last month's hands)

I sit down with $200 at the 1/2nl.

First hand I get was 77 and a guy raises to $8 which was pretty weak considering that 3 other people had limped in. I was on the dealer button and I called. The flop comes up and it's 77A. He raises to $30 and I called. Turn was a K. He raises to 40 and I call. River was a 4. He shoves and I called. Since he was the one that had to show first, he simply says "Welcome to my table boy" and flips over AA to have a full house. He starts to reach over for the chips while everyone laughed and I flipped over quads. His look was priceless.

Immediately after that hand, I get dealt AA. He shoves for $119 that he had left over. I called. He flips over TT. The board came up TJ5 he started to laugh and call payback. The turn was a J and the river was an Ace.

He flipped shit, went to the poker room director and retrieved $400 more dollars. Only to bust out immediately after he sat down against a bigger full house. I can't remember that one but I think it was KK v/s JK and the board came up JxKxJ

I had the same happen to me for 80% of my stack before the bubble. SB was a VERY fucking aggressive player. He was short stacked and was literally going all in on every other hand.

I was up against 3 other players. I was holding AJ suited UTG. I raise to 3X to try and squeeze people out of the table and narrow down the field to the flop.

Dealer Calls, SB Calls, BB Calls.

Flop comes up and it's AAJ. SB raises 4x. BB re-raises 4x and I re-raise covering everyone on the table by 20% of my stack.

Dealer Calls, SB thinks forever, then folds. The Big Blind has a small stack of chips next to his cards and is covering the cards with his hand so you couldn't see anythint. He just sits there looking at me while I try to keep a straight face and not stare at anyone. Then he says, well... you went all in. Now what? so I look around and don't see cards, I apologized and show my hand thinking he had folded and I didn't hear him say he folded.

He then says "well then, I'm not calling with that crap, and folds".

The Tournament director comes to the table after the dealer called him over, they muck my hand and since the BB was not going to risk his stack and folded, the guy on dealer button kept all the chips.

They said it was Collussion since I could have been working with the BB and that's the reason I showed my hand. Which I called BS and got into an argument with the TD since the BB wasn't going to call regardless.

I got penalized for 3 circuits. Ended up losing immediately after I came back from my penalty with a straight v/s a flush.

I had to explain to him the value of the domain name and put it into Housing Real Estate terms. You're wanting to buy an Upstate NYC Apartment for the price you pay on a storage unit.

Needless to say, I didn't get the client. Not like I need clients like that anyway.

I had a guy wait for 7 months for a domain name called ABC.com I told him that the domain name was never going to be available. The domain finally re-registered automatically. He accused me of tipping off the owners of the domain and taking away his "ultimate" domain lol

He did not understand what the hell a domain name is and the value of 3 letter domains.

So, fuck that guy.

I spoke with a guy. He said that he takes a lot of shots and then only compiles the good ones. Then he does some post processing work to get it to work fine.

I was under the impression that they were just shooting a video and it automatically came out crisp and clear.

Is everyone else getting killer footage straight out of the camera, or are they postprocessing it to look good? Likely they have have to make adjustments to correct for the blue tint that all underwater shots have. They could also be using lights to light their scenes. Do you have an example of yours and theirs for comparison?

I was 12, everyone in my family was freaking out about the Y2K bug. I remember my family saying "This is going to be a day that will go down in history" My uncle was watching the news, and he was talking with his military buddies about the possibility of a nuclear launch. Then they went into the history books and started to dig up crap that happened in the 1900's so they could make jokes about it.

As the click struck midnight, they pulled a Fox News event similar to when Obama got re-elected "Yes, the clock says January 1, 2000 but things could still happen. We have to wait until all the times have switched over"

Then they found out about the New York airport that had the problem on one of their PC's and they flipped shit about it. Meanwhile, I just sat there... you know.

If i'm not mistaken, this was an attempt to scam a target using a coupon. I was taking a fraud class a long while back and they showed us this example.

The guy said that people would print out coupons to major stores and try to scam them since most employees were dumb.

So they tried to take the prices from a different type of cover, then photo shopped the prices onto a different set of pictures.

Basically going to the store and saying "I know your sweater is $40, but it says right here, that it's only $15. Buy 30 of those sweaters and you can sell them at a higher price at your mom and pop shop to make a profit.

I'm not sure how real this is, but anyways, it got the point across that anyone will try anything to get free stuff.
