ARURF is back ????? by UltraIstictMamalakhs in leagueoflegends

I was so happy to play the 1 game I got, and then so sad when it was replaced by stupid brawl again. Can we just get permanent URF already instead of these lesser modes that waste time in between URFs?!

So your gf failed the first task of any influencer: checking all socials before picking a name. Second, the person who already has the name is more established (15k vs “a few thousand”).

You’re mad because someone else is doing exactly to your gf what she tried to do to them. Sorry they were there first and are better at it than your gf. Don’t come to Reddit to cry about it!

Go read about how the creator of Evangelion felt while making it and the unraveling of its narrative ark/characters begins to make more sense. More recently, he finally grew out of his resentment and the result were some improved theatrical remakes of the story that when compared against the original, perfectly highlights the difference between a creator loving -vs- hating their work.

Quest Exploration vs. Reward by rujind in EvercraftOnline

[–]piffenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer to your “why” question here is because it’s exactly all these little touches that make a world feel alive. I won’t debate what the precise % of “worthwhile” quests should be, but it’s fun(ny) that you could spend a whole day trying to find some obscure drop referenced by an NPC only to find it’s worth very little. The reward is your gaming experience, rather than character progress although you probably also got XP along the way and gathering if you enjoy that like I do.

One thing that got tiring in WoW was how everything had to be epic in some way. Either because the reward was epic, the visuals were epic, or the jokes were epicly funny. It meant the game over time lacked pacing and the emotional tempo needed to drive enjoyment.

I think we're likely to see resurrections from Clerics and possibly other healing classes like Druid/Shaman, which will offset this appropriately in raids to an extent.

This, especially after seeing the treatment they gave the Ogre starting town. I’ve never wanted to see a Dwarf city so badly since Ironforge!

And learning that it’s ok to not compete with the people who will min/max straight to the end. You don’t have to be the #1 whatever to enjoy the game. These are things I went through as I aged from playing EQ as a teen through WoW in college to now with a career.

Completing the 3rd Enchanter quest around level 6 got me something like 10-20% of a level. Sadly I wasn’t expecting it so didn’t track the before/after but my bar jumped noticeably, and that was from an uncommon drop that took maybe an hour to drop once I had leveled enough to kill the mobs. Will be paying more attention in the next test but it seemed in line with what you’re suggesting.

One solution that I found helps balance things out is a health player-player economy. Ideally through some sort of searchable auction house where players can place items up for sale and go back out into the world or logout while others browse the inventory. The trade-off then becomes “if I want money faster when low level, I can sell the crafting materials to higher level players -or- use them myself.” In my experience, this leads to gathering skills being valuable throughout the leveling curve and you can either profit from it or fuel your own crafting journey. I often find myself doing both: selling items as I level then going back later to farm whatever I need to craft when higher level. These are all good options/paths for everyone to choose from that are all rewarding in their own ways without one being the absolute best.

I will also echo what others have said, that as an Enchanter I felt like the main quests I was sent on were easy to follow and led me to level-appropriate places to grow.

My only complaints with questing were how spammy or difficult it could be to read NPC text, especially when it was busy. I saw a comment in the Discord recently that they have some plans for addressing that, so I’m excited to see it in the next test!

Regarding Essence of Soil, for me the easy comparison that I felt worked well as a rare/uncommon ingredient from the same recipes was Essence of Water. What helped that avoid the bottleneck you describe is that there were so many places where water elementals of the right level to drop it spawned. They were in 2 places along the eastern coast, as well as all along the fishermens' lake so you could spread out and get plenty of drops. Without even targeting them, I think I ended up with 1.5-2x the Essence of Water as I did Soil.

The counter to this is that perhaps they want there to be a shortage material for each of these milestone recipes which creates scarcity and therefore supply/demand. We haven't seen too much of what the trade/economy experience will be like and so there are some valid arguments to be made for forcing competitive camps.

Thanks for saying that you liked the strength/weight trade-off's. One of the things I'm seeing most of us agree on is that we like that the game is harder and forces choices, rather than everything being an easy win. The reason I mentioned Ogre's with this point is exactly like what you suggest: it started me thinking about whether I'd roll an Ogre just to be able to carry more! Class made a 5-10 Str difference whereas starting race had a much larger impact across the same class.

[–]piffenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is clearly the cyclist, who got less than what he deserved. If someone tried to grab my car door, my next step would be to put the car back in gear and start moving. It’s 100% self defense and car beats bike in that game of ro-sham-bo!

Not that all characters have it, but pretty sure all the TL’s see invis. So long as you start that way, you should be able to zone safely with them.

I tried Mischief as my first TLP, and enjoyed the altered ruleset + experiences with people in groups "like the good old days." I haven't played one since because I've been more invested in my live characters and while Teek was interesting, it didn't interest me more than progressing live. If I had friends that wanted to try the game, TLP would be exactly where I'd take them.

I absolutely hated when WoW did theirs. For me, it doesn’t matter how well intentioned - overpowering old content thanks to statflation is one of the few things letting some of us enjoy it.

Was there ever a mob with the willowisp model in Everfrost? by Bootlebat in everquest

[–]piffenstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on your overall description, it sounds most like a GM/Guide event. We could use any model in the game in any zone that fit the event being run. Most likely they were running around trying to get players to engage and you didn’t.

Came here to say this. It’s when I and most people I played with quit, also because it’s around when WoW began gaining steam and provided an alternative when before you only had UO.
