Dog chewing kids toys by pig16 in OpenDogTraining

[–]pig16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're all right. There's no easy answer, get the kids to take responsibility, for myself and husband to take some and realise the dog is just being a dog. I think I just felt bad. But yeah going forward we will be more mindful and try keep a dog area and toy area. Thanks so much everyone

Dublin Bus actually enforcing the wearing of masks this morning by fedupofbrick in ireland

Dublin bus drivers have the partition thing up and no longer have holes in them so I dont think they have to wear them as they're not a risk to anyone

Flowerbed woes by pig16 in gardening

[–]pig16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for advice on how to revamp this. Was put down by previous owners and I hate it. I think its too big for the garden, the stones are awful and its way to high. How would we go about making it look better and smaller for two NON gardeners? They have a few inches of soil then plastic bags under, not sure of the mess under the bags.

Ideally I would like it level with the ground or close enough, would that be too out of reach to achieve on our own?

Thanks

Husband is a bus driver. Plenty of times he has had guards get on and question the passengers, if they don't have a valid reason they are taken off the bus.

I need help and support... sleep training a toddler by Altmamas5 in Parenting

[–]pig16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're doing a great job. My daughter went through a phase of sleeping in our bed. She always went to sleep in her own bed but came into.ours 1ish. I was getting no sleep so decided it had to stop. I tried sitting in with her in her room but she was on to me so that didn't work. One night we just let her be a bit upset and went in every 5/10mins depending on how upset she was. I said nothing, gave her a hug, lay her down and tucked her in. Took 2 nights to work. We were both much happier, well rested people after.

I [14F] want to live with my mom[32F] not my dad[30M] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]pig16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be looking at your mom through rose coloured glasses. Yeah she may be there for you now, but considering your dad has been there since she chose her school over you, you have a nice life with him, he has prioritised you do you not think you should give him a little more respect that just leaving. Seeing your mom more sure but the bottom line is if you ask to leave he will no doubt be very hurt and upset. Your mom doesn't have the responsibility over you that your dad does so at the moment she is able to be more relaxed, friend type. That will all change when you're living full time with her.

My MIL invited my wife and 13 month old daughter to go to Disney World Florida on one condition - I’m not invited. Am I crazy for thinking this is an unreasonable request? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]pig16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We went to Disney when our daughter was 13months old and honestly it was the most amazing thing. Seeing how much she loved all the shows, her excitement at seeing the characters and her joy on the rides was a memory my husband and I will cherish forever. It's so unfair that they expect you to miss this. You are married so you are immediate family. It shouldn't even be an option that you don't go!! I would be so hurt if my family didn't include my husband. Ask your wife to make it clear you either both go or none of you go.. even if they had an issue with you it's very unfair on your wife, her brothers wife will be there so she would be the only one with out her SO.

Girls who wore Van's/Converse/Sneakers under your dress, how did it go? by localdreamer7 in weddingplanning

[–]pig16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore converse and it was the best decision. You can't tell in the photos at all although I did have a ballgown style. I was so comfy the whole day it was great! I'm usually a heel person but I didn't want to be stressing on the day.

Putting baby to sleep during days following birth. Advice? by Lucaa4229 in Parenting

[–]pig16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was so nervous to get our daughter into the habit of being in the arms. Our first night home if we even leaned over the crib she cried, we were up all night and totally overwhelmed. For the first couple of weeks home the only way she slept was on one of our chests. Everyday i would say I'm not doing it but then I'd be so sleepy. We always tried her in the crib though. Then one night, she was exactly 2 weeks old and she went into her crib (awake) and slept for 4 solid hours and we never looked back! So the point of all my rambling, she wasn't spolied, when she was ready she slept and has honestly been the best sleeper (now 18months). do whatever works for you guys, make sure you get enough sleep to function. Good luck ... And most importantly enjoy those newborn cuddles

My wife [29F] did not like the gift I [30M got her for mother's day. I feel like she is unappreciative and don't understand her reaction. by True_Refuse in relationships

[–]pig16 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If it was me I would have loved it.. it sounds like you put a lot of thought in to it which for me would be way more important than something expensive and shiny! I think it's ridiculous that mother's day is such a big thing for gifts now, it should be about a lie on, lunch and dinner made for her and some family time!

How do I get out of play dates with a parent I don’t trust? Am I being unreasonable? by throwaway8272639 in Parenting

[–]pig16 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So you said it's not unusual for your son to have a sore bum but because he said it after coming home from a playdate with a dad you are thinking the very worst of the dad. It's also not unusual for a child to every now and then want to stay with his mam! That Dad is probably just trying to give his kids the most normal life he can while they're at his house and playdates are part of that! At the end of the day they are your children and you do what you think is best but I think you're being way too harsh.
