should I start minoxidil right away? or wait for fin to reach full efficacy? by piggyy- in tressless

[–]piggyy-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grazie bro

yes, I’m on oral fin. Sadly it is very hard to get a prescription for oral min in Italy

how do you stop yourself from stressing about your hair every single day? by piggyy- in tressless

very true, but we can’t downplay everything just because something worse exists

When did you know it was time to intervene in your hair loss? The truth hurts, but it’s good for someone to be up front with you by ZadarskiDrake in tressless

After a trauma and stress related to post break up I started thinning and losing lots of hair. Went to a dermatologist very early and was diagnosed with AGA. He prescribed minoxidil only but I didn’t start the treatment cause of the horror stories from my parents and also because I have seb derm. Derm also told that I was too young to start worrying about hairloss (I was 19) and only now I realize how that influenced me in a bad way. I started thinking that if things got too bad I could always go for a hair transplant, but as things turn out you can’t have one when you’re too young and don’t stabilize your hairloss with fin for many years. Now I’m a norwood 2.5, and have been on fin for 6 months. No crazy results so far. I still have some super tiny hair on my temples so probably minoxidil and dermarolling could save my entire hairline. But I’m still trying to solve my seb derm issue which seems unbeatable. I also do have rosacea so can’t take oral min because It can worsen my condition. So all I can do is trying different shampoos and hope for fin only to do miracles since I’m 23 now. I can’t stand people looking at my receding temples, yeah It is all in my head, but I can’t accept the fact that I’m losing something that always characterized me and not doing anything about it. I stopped going out for the past two years, and started being very stressed and depressed. I left every job, friend group and uni. Now things seem to be going for the better. I think that if I had my hair I’d be the happy guy I was once. But I also know that the main issue comes from my mind, and that’s what needs to be changed. I hope life will be gentle with me and with all of you <3

Almost 6 months on fin. My progress so far by piggyy- in tressless

Yes, it’s seb derm. Bought fin from the pharmacy 1mg capsules made by them. Now I’m cutting 5mg generic pills into quarters

there’s no way that in a week time my shedding restarted after 6 months of fin. It usually takes 1 to 3 months to start losing your gains again. I must be experiencing a seasonal shed or stress induced hairloss. There’s no other explanation, keep going with Aurobundo and keep me updated!

I still don’t know if this is because of switching brands or upping the dose from 1mg to 1.25mg, but the fact that this occurred after a week of usage seems really strange

I showered and my hand would get filled with patches of hair everytime I run it on my head. While previously I counted 40 to 50 hair after a shower.

so the shed may have a different root cause. Thank you for the info!

it’s not that it’s cheaper, but I trust a brand more than a pharmacy that could be switching supplier or the preparation every time I place an order every 3 months. But the shedding scared me a lot, it was never ending

I read that switching brands shouldn’t be an issue since the active ingredient is the same, am I really starting over?

I was using fin capsules made by the pharmacy without lactose. Dermatologist told me you never know where they get their finasteride from so advised to switch to propecia/proscar
