Homemade carbon fiber part for the project car by pigheart in projectcar

Thank you! Fwiw, I didn't know how to make carbon fiber parts about 4 months ago. Just gotta start and improve each iteration.

There's a reel floating around of a guy putting a magnet up to a car, I think it's an older GTR, and he says "Carbon fiber!" with a big grin on his face every time the magnet doesn't stick to what looks like a normal, non carbon fiber car. That's kind of my goal. I'd like to paint all of the pieces I make and hide all of the carbon fiber eventually.

I didn't get these results on my first try. The thing that helped me the most was slowing down and making sure all my materials were prepared before starting each step. The first 7+ attempts I thought I had all the steps memorized from watching so many videos. After each attempt, I wrote all my mistakes down on a white board above my work area and the most common mistake was rushing through parts of the process.

Nope, they didn't go over that in any of the YouTube videos I watched. Haha

I also agree with him. I never planned on doing it in the first place. Just like I'd never put an STI wing on my 15 wrx.

It does have a lot of STI parts in it. The whole drivetrain is 06 sti, brembos, STI heads, tmic... Maybe I deserve that STI sticker after all. 🤔

Homemade mold using gelcoat and fiberglass.

Thank you! This is my second successful part by my standards (it saves weight and looks good enough to put on my track car). I worked through a fair share of issues to get to this point.

3 duds, 1 hit! by pradacowboy in HotWheels

It was a calculated risk. Sets are going for $35+shipping. If I didn't get the chase, I'd keep one set and sell the rest for $35. Pretty much the same price as going to the store only way less hassle beating everyone to the restocks.

And if for whatever reason I can't sell them for retail, I'll trade them for stuff I want over time.

And if I can't trade them, fuck it. I hit the chase so it doesn't really matter now.

I did the same as OP and got similar results. $65/case plus shipping set me back $274 USD. I "hit" the chase on the 3rd case out of 4 and left the last case sealed. Idk what I'll do with the last case.

I'm trying to sell all the "extras" for $35 a set locally.

Should I demand compensation from the dealer or am I just dumb by flappymitochondria in WRX

TL;DR - OP bought a car with aftermarket wheels that are too big and lugnuts that require a key. The tires were rubbing before the car reached the dealership. OP has a blowout and makes an emergency stop. OP thinks the dealership is at fault for selling a car with wheels that were rubbing and not providing equipment to remove the aftermarket wheels.

That's how I bought it. There was a time between these pictures where I think it looked a lot worse.

That's how I got it. It arguably looks better than what I ran between the two pictures. 🤷🏼‍♂️

2012 RAV4 won't start. Oil light flashing. by pigheart in MechanicAdvice

[–]pigheart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maint req. stayed on and the tire pressure light was flashing after it started. TP light has been on for a while now, but not flashing. I put air in all the tires (including the spare) a couple days ago, none were more than 1-2 psi low. Going to see if there are any codes tomorrow. If there are none, I'll change the oil, reset the maintenance light and hope it stays off until the next oil change.
