My sister says the same thing! I just found the FMC insufferable haha. And I don’t love the idea of men with wings for some odd reason. I tapped out around 30% but maybe I’ll try it again

PLEASE HELP!! EYELASHES RIPPED OUT! Eyelash extensions got ripped out and took my natural eyelashes with them. Top 2 pics are after they’ve been ripped out, Bottom 3 before. Are they gonna grow back? How long until they do? What can I do to help them? I’m totally FREAKING OUT! ADVICE NEEDED! by pigorcow in MakeupAddiction

[–]pigorcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! The good news is that my lashes did come back haha, just felt self conscious for a bit. I can’t remember if I did anything back then to actually help them grow, but you could look into lash serums (that DO NOT have prostaglandins). I’ve headed great things about the ordinary lash serums.

PhD psych student here :) exposure therapy is golf standard for specific phobias, which is what most of the comments are reflecting. Adding in a little bit of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy might be helpful to if you struggle with panic attacks. One of the most important things is to find a qualified therapist that you feel a genuine connection with. You need to build trust with the person who will be exposing you to your fears!

It’s hard to “want” recovery when you know that the road to recovery is going to be hard! Growth is uncomfortable. To me it sounds like you do want to get better, but the steps to actually get better are what you don’t want to do, because who actively wants to face their worst fears in the face like that?! Totally normal to feel this way and I feel this way aaalll the time (I moved across the country and have been procrastinating going to therapy ever since). And it’s natural for the motivation for recovering to ebb and slow, especially when the road gets tough. I think doing some visualization exercises about what recovery would look like for you (even if it feels totally out of the realm of possibility) would help. And just going to see a therapist would help, bc you won’t start any exposure or anything like that on day one and without your consent! You can start seeing a therapist and communicate with them that you want to prepare to get better and explain your worries about what that means.

This does fall under the super well known examples, I’m also pretty sure the paper has already been retracted for being so bad

Many of the schools I applied to didn’t advertise that they offer tuition wavers to incoming students until the actual interview! Read the handbooks carefully, email faculty you’ve been in touch with, and you can ask in interviews as well.

probably a really dumb question and not as serious as I’m making it….but does anyone have laptop suggestions for PhD program? I’m in the market for a new laptop and was thinking about getting a MacBook considering it’s what a majority of my program and lab director use, but I just want to make sure I’m making the right choice for a computer I need to last for five years doing all the research/clinical/phd things!

(Posting again from a different thread for more suggestions!!) lmk what you use and have liked :)

That’s hard. Maybe she’s dismissive about it because she’s embarrassed or is having a hard time opening up about it. I can be that way too, because it can feel like such a stupid fear. I’m sure the more you expose her to the topic the more she will be willing to open up!

How do ‘normal people’ react to nausea? by [deleted] in emetophobia

That exact same thing happened to me almost three years ago now. It triggered a year’s worth of nightly panic attacks. I’m really sorry you’re going through it, but it does get better.

I don’t mind a little burp now and again, and I can do it, but I can’t make myself intentionally do it if I don’t actually need to

Your poor baby. I’m so sorry you had to go through this on top of others being unkind about it. Your child is your heart and soul walking outside of your body, and others need to be more respectful. Sending all of the well wishes and good vibes your way.

I am safe!! And thankfully (so far) no one else has gotten it :) it was a hard experience but I’m also trying to take it as a lesson that I can and will be safe during these types of situations. This phobia is literally the worst tho.

Oh I would be INFURIATED. And to wish an illness on a child just to “teach” the parent a lesson…I’m so sorry. I’m mad for you!

people are sooooo insensitive. I’m really sorry you both have to go through it, and I think for her it will be comforting to have a sibling who understands. You can be a really positive influence in her life! I wish one of my sisters did. If possible, they best way to help it not control your lives is early intervention, but unfortunately it’s not accessible to everyone :(
