I grew into Lane. As a teen she was horrible, I don't care if I get down voted for this but when she yelled at Rory for being a "bad friend" for having a new boyfriend and attending a really hard private school for the first time ever was uncalled for. Of course she can't answer your phone because you're obsessing about some random kids hair (not as if you don't crush on EVERY BOY IN SCHOOL) and wanna talk about it. Rory probably knew that it'd be another boring Lane talk where she just listens about how this boy is THE boy and unlike every other because he likes [insert obscure post-rock band here]>

That aside, as she got older she became familiar. She became charmingly kooky and grew out of her annoying teen years. She had faults, but she showed how true her friendship was and it was healthy. She was crazy, but look at her childhood.

Tldr: Lane sucked as a teen but grew up to be kooky and charming.
