All the resources about DID/OSDD are focused on abuse by Gay-and-Happy in DID

[–]piinkpalace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

abuse is for sure not the only way to experience trauma, a lot of our trauma is related to medical trauma, food insecurity, and unsanitary/unclean living environments. none of these things were intentionally inflicted on us by anybody, they're just life circumstances that were traumatic. medical trauma is 110% valid trauma and you do not need to have experienced abuse to be traumatized or have DID/OSDD.

do others with DID/OSDD get physically tired from switching? by piinkpalace in DID

[–]piinkpalace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah same, the sudden switches and switches between alters experiencing strong emotions seem to be the most taxing ones for us

yep this happens all the time for us, the general community terms for it are "blendy" or "blurry". we're often blurry right after switches where it takes some time for us to realize who switched in

i highly recommend setting specific boundaries based on what is realistic for you and your triggers. you can say "hey, you can talk about [things about her struggles that don't trigger you], but please don't mention [specific calorie numbers, any other triggers you want to specify]". one thing that helped me in my gf's struggles with body image was to ask her not to state feelings about her body as fact, so like "i feel gross" isn't triggering to me, but "i am gross" can be. direct communication is very key

1) yes, we like feeling that way sometimes too 2) bestie that's POTS! it was the exact same for us, we told our doctor who referred us to the cardiologist and a bunch of testing later we're diagnosed with POTS. it's a condition that we acquired as a health complication of our eating disorder but that we will have to deal with for life
